Mr2 that might be the longest post you've ever done.

I'm as Aussie as meat pies, vegemite and thongs. Couldn't care less what happens to the Sepo's.

What they need is leaders will balls like Colin Barnett and Tony Abbott! They'd show that stupid 3rd world country how to run a country effectively.

Are you on this earth? Look at what Colin Barnet has done. Has created much debt. WA has lost its AAA rating. I believe we have a troll!

Colin, Tony, Malcolm, Julie - go on to the US and teach them the ways of the futuristic, wise Liberal Party. And go to a wedding while you're there! It's win win.

We need the Liberal Party to save the world!

What you don't realize is that if you go into the archives you'll see that many wise readers here believe that Tony will save Australia and he has! Now he has to save the world. Can't you see us wise readers agreeing? What troll?

VOTE LIBERAL!

We all praise our party for bringing Australia out of recession or whatever the problem was at the time of the election
We never praise the companies and business men and even the workers who actually export our products and create the jobs
Governments just seem to need to be seen as stable/reliable so the real movers and shakers can get on with running the country

Tooth of the matter is, if we look at the BIG picture, the whole global economy is expanding rapidly at ridiculous pace by borrowing out of thin air. Feds, Reserve Banks printing $$$ base on thin air. Triple AAA double AA, debts will be high either way, it is expected. How do you fund infrastructure projects? Hence the Euro crisis. Euro can't print $$ freely like the US therefore their problems run deep when they hit.

Did we? Did you see the election results? Very little praise was thrown Labor's way. The consensus was... it happened in spite of Labor's policies.
I think you've got it backwards. I think business, especially big business has pretty good PR. And generally, we eat that shit up.

Can't believe that all those people who went on and on about how bad Labor and how brilliant the Liberal Party was going to be BEFORE the election are keeping so quiet now AFTER the election. Hmmm? Don't you want to see the USA become as succesful as Australia? Come on you guys and gals, rally round! Your budgie smuggler needs you!

Sovereign Wealth Funds (SFW's) have untold wealth. By untold, I mean untold. As an example the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority has between 300 - 875b in assets. That's a 575b margin for error. These SFW's buy up public assets. Governments at various levels take the quick cash. Helps them balance the budget for an election cycle or two. Short term gain. Long term fail. As an example - All 35,000 of Chicago's parking tickets have been leased to JP Morgan for the next 75 years, for half nothing. JPM cleverly did the deal without letting on exactly who the investors were. A majority share belongs to an Abu Dhabi SFW. So when the city wants to close a street for a festival or what-not, they have to pay compensation to JPM i.e - SFW's i.e Oil billionaires.

Just realised that I haven't started one single thread since the forum changed its look. Mainly because there are usually several other interesting threads on the forum I want to add to instead of starting my own and secondly the year 2013 seems to be the year of visitors. I have been in Perth for over 5 years and nobody really bothered to come for a visit. Not so this year. Ok you might ask yourselves what have visitors to do with new threads? Haaaa only in so far that I am not using the forum at home any more.......too many eyes around. So here we go.....this is the first one started by me at work and now let's see what happens. :D

Hey Rochelle
Know what you mean. I have just arrived back from NZ and my dear friend surprises me with a planned visit in January. Can't wait but then like you how do we work in this secretive life without getting caught. Friends pick up on things so quick. Still I have a couple of months to sort it x

Sounds like we are sitting in the same boat, Viv.
I love my friend dearly and it is great to have her around and to catch up after all this time but she is rather observant and knows me for a long time. Guess it is the first real test for the "hiding qualities of my double life" (mmmmmmm sounds like a future title of a book........)
So far so good but I still have over a week to go. Wish me luck

They are thinking about introducing a road toll in Perth.........for example on the Kwinana Fwy or how about the Mitchell? Let's say $4 per car and like in Brisbane.......taken straight away from your account via a chip installed in your car.
What is your opinion? Are road tolls a good idea to reduce traffic or is it just another way to squeeze money out of people?

I guess they will also tell you the money raised will go back into a better road system
Whats the bet it will go back into trying to get the budget back into the black

They tried this in the city I'm from in America. What happens is that people with lower incomes stop driving and people with higher incomes start. Pretty soon, it's predominantly "rich" people using the toll roads. The media and a few politicians started referring to these roads as "Lexus Lanes". It causes class resentment, and overall it's not the best way to address the problem.

Fully agree.

Looks like Perth is becoming more like Sydney if these were to happen.

Sydney to me is the Hong Kong and the Jakarta of all the citizen's love of traffic jam. Last time I stayed in Sydney they've already got those mounted automated scanners at each checkpoints.

Introducing the toll fee is a good start for us to become one of them.

Even if it reduces the total number of cars by a theoretical 10% off all the major freeways the rate which everyone will also be late for work I bet would be increased by 10%.
