Cash option fading

As with a number of shops there is a cash price and a card price. As a client of Hanys l am sure you have seen the prices on the book stating cash price.
I even got the cash price this afternoon buying tools for my garage!!

I only use the card these days to get cash out of the atm. Every payment is cash, and if they don't take cash ( like Nando's ), I walk.

I have a similar attitude to no cash establishments, it is still legal tender.

I went into a shop which had Card only at first. Later it had problems so sign disappearred. Cash works all the time whereas card technology doesn't. It has glitch problems. When will shops learn this? Cards also need electricity.

ANZ customer closes her account after being told she can't withdraw cash

A frustrated ANZ customer has closed her bank account on the spot after being told by staff that she couldn’t withdraw her money because they are a ‘cashless’ branch. A bank with no cash is like a pub with no beer.

Westpac is also changing its cash rules

There are two ANZ branches in the Perth CBD and only the one on Murray Street Mall will give you cash at a teller, the one at Allendale Square on St Georges Terrace is cashless - only has ATM's.

Free ATMs definitely harder to find, especially since the ANZ units were replaced by ATMx. I'm not a Westpac customer, but the Westpac units seem to be the most plentiful these days. Inevitably, I will keep a mental note of the most convenient ATM located on the way to the AMP I am visiting.
Big 4 banks no longer charge transaction fees, AFAIK. NAB customers also have access to the RediTeller network, whose clients include BOQ, P&N and Beyond Banks.

There is now the option of doing cash withdrawals at most Post Offices. Has anyone tried that?
The ATM nearest my favourite AMP is closing in November, so I'm looking for options. Paying by card is not one of them.
It's getting to the stage where we could make a list of the 'free' ATM's in the metro area. There are only about 40 of them.

Cash is much cheaper when undocumented transactions are GST Free and [CONTENT WARNING: tax jargon] non-assessable-non-exempt income.
Businesses just need to be careful that undocumented income doesn't make them outliers in their industry. The tax office can look carefully at lots of ratios across an industry, use [CONTENT WARNING: first year uni stats] multivariate regression to adjust for details such as Victoria being cheaper or dominatrixes having more expensive toys, and audit both the most unusual 5% and every client of tax agents with lots of outliers. This is why I only tip with cash and I prefer paying for extras with cash.
BUT I like paying for basic services with credit card (except at places like Langtrees that charge 10% for credit cards) because it gives me both frequent flyer points (possibly to places where long-times till 9am now cost $AUD300 including bar fine) and a reminder of where my money went. These reminders are vital if I otherwise easily spend more than I can afford. Does anybody have an undocumented money tree that I could please borrow?

Yes . Ask your local labour Pollie. They seem to have plenty of money to throw at stupid agendas. WA Inc is still in business here at the Labour party. Just look at the money they make from us in fines in such yet still claim not to have any money. Where does it all go. . Apparently The city of Perth has over 20 million just sitting around in the parking meter account while homelessness in on the increase , people are losing their homes but government and banks just continue to steal our hard earned cash and homes. And they are only going to take more away from you before you die.
Vote yes . Vote Labour.
Bullshit.
So we all know about getting scammed. Once you lose your cash options who owns your money. You or the bank.
If it is not in your hand you don't own it. .
It's a dictatorship. Global control.

Call me old fashioned.....Which I guess I am, but cash always for me. Why complicate something as enjoyable as time with a beautiful woman. The Govt will continue to try to make us a cashless society but it will never succeed. I loved my first pay as a young worker, real money in an envelope. Folding money will never go out of style and it has an allure that electronic transfers never will. Oh and no hacker, no matter how talented will ever know where my cash went :)
I must agree, that folding money, that physical sensation of having something in hand, will never go out of style 😊

As if the Libs are any better. Both are two wings of the same evil bird.

Cash withdrawal only permitted if you make a puchase.
Cash withdrawal reduced to $200
That is disappointing.

I have now done a cash withdrawal from the Post Office. It shows on the bank statement as Aust Post and the suburb. No fees involved, but obviously only available during the business hours of the branch.

Should we start doing a list of 'free' ATMs? As I said previously, there are now fewer than 40 sites in the Perth metro area.

Depends on your bank? the ATM in the servo 2 mins away from me is fee-free for Westpac and associated cards, which is perfect (for me).. nearest proper bank ATM is 10 mins away

I and some girls prefer cash for the anonymity. I have noticed it is getting harder to find ATM's. Reckon eventually we will go cashless.
Anyone else finding ATM's harder to find?

For the women, I'm not sure if it's really for the anonymity or the traceability from the tax office. Lots of ATMs at the petrol stations. Also, if in daytime, just opt for cash out at the supermarkets.
