Nice article. The AMP scene is becoming a culture in Perth. Soon, bars with hostess will be common if they don't stop it.

To get the topic started I will tell my own story.

While I was living in Japan I turned down invitations by absolutely stunning women to go to Karaoke bars for weeks before a local friend told me "Karaoke is not karaoke, it's a small soundproof private room usually with a very very comfy couch" I didn't quite get it, so he put it bluntly. "Its a common location for young Japanese to go and have casual sex". This is a cultural thing because most live at home or with roommates in small accommodations so bringing people home there is no privacy.

They also have short stay hotels for this purpose but there's a stigma attached to it and they are used more by 35+ age bracket and the 18-25's prefer the karaoke.
 
well the way it works here for a few Perth k-ok bar is you hire a room for a few hours and a bar tab is provided depending on room selection. Hostess are available for hire to keep you company at a rate of $60/hrs (last time i was there)

Election of girls range from Asian to Eastern European girls.

They will drink sing and eat with you and if you get along well.... extras can be negotiated between the 2 of you. but these extras are not on site.... take away only.

i like asian bars better... there are rooms available next door or even just a quicky in the toilet. and much cheaper...

one night in perth can cost more than $1K as my friend had a party while his missus was away haha

Be wary overseas in karoke bars, I went to one in Hong Kong 5 years back and spent $800 bucks before I realized what I was up for.I was only there an two hours and when I got the bill and tried to question it, two very large heavies came out of no where. I will never go back to a Karoke bar.

go to Malaysia Singapore plenty of them...

Indonesia is classier... a hotel with K-OK bars with girls for your choosing... a strip club in a level and a full size night club ...


Thailand brings it up a notch..... the best one i have been to was a big hotel... with a first class restaurant on the ground floor.. the girls sit in glass rooms where you can choose the girl you want (each room is different quality and price) once meal is finished you and your friends can go to your room with your girls to a KOK room with full sound system, a Jacuzzis food and drinks... you can have party first then go your private room within your KOK room or have a full on orgy... orgy by the Jacuzzi was an interesting experience :)
this is completely different to the tourist area... you need locals to bring you... and the quality of women and services was second to none.....

Ha, while I was living in Japan some roppongi district club pulled that on me, only it was 200,000 and when I refused and walked out I ended up beaten tazed and left naked in the street.

Jokes on them I only had $500 in my wallet and no credit card. I aint no novice, never take moren your willing to spend to a red light district.

When holidaying, go with a local, who knows the scene.

If you're a foreign tourist, then you're an easy target to be ripped off. Karaoke Bars in general are exorbitant if you're wanting more than a smile.
 
Few years back, group of friends went Karaoke in Hong Kong. Most went home and 2 stayed behind to party on with the hostesses. One of the guys started to feel dizzy and decided to bail and the last guy stayed to kick on. Next morning the last guy woke up on the street with all money/cards/ID gone. Quite common for people to get drugged in Asian Nightspots. All Asian night entertainment establishments overseas are under the control of gangsters.
