I have a friend in Perth who stupidly goes to karaoke bars. They are in Northbridge and the better ones are quite luxurious.
It's the standard scene. You go in with mates, you each choose a girl and there is a package that is purchased which includes a room, drinks, mixers and maybe some cheap food. I have been led to believe that economies of scale dictates that the more blokes in the room, the cheaper the cost per bloke, based on how the packages are calculated. However, the booze disappears pretty quickly after a while with the girls drinking too, so when extra bottles are purchased and the girls start to ask for specific drinks like cocktails you end up spending anywhere from $500-1000 each. The girls are usually students, or travellers. Most are Asian. There's quite a few Eastern Europeans doing the circuit, as there has been in the last ten years, but there's also a lot of french chicks doing this type of work too. The Australian sex industry seems to be full of French travellers at the minute. When I walked in to a Brisbane strip club in October last year (I had to out of respect for the company I was with, but I despise these places), at least 1 in 3 strippers were French!! Go figure ...
It's all slap and tickle stuff. The girls who are good at their jobs will cock tease all night but I doubt people are copping blow jobs or anything like that in the room. And even if they are, it must come with a generous tip over and above the cost of being there, rendering the return on your overall investment absolutely disgraceful!
The bit I don't get is how these Asian chicks can do this four or five nights a week. It is there job to drink. The guys in these rooms are buying shooters for these girls a lot, because most of the punters are Asian men and that is what they do. Some of these hostesses are 5'2 and weigh 45kg, so they can get drunk on the sniff of alcohol, let alone being forced to sit and drink for hours on end and take shots. I have heard the girls do leave the room now and then, so I can only assume they force themselves to vomit in order to be able to keep going. And, if the shots coming in are not poured out of the same bottle, I would question the alcohol content in the shots given to the females. This is a common slight-of-hand trick used in Thailand, where you order a round of shots in a gogo bar or a place similar and while you're drinking alcohol, the girls are pretending thy're drinking the same stuff but it's just apple juice.
The thought of buying a girl/room/drink/food package and spending hours on end with your mates in a single room getting cock teased for a grand is surely the single most pathetic act a male can perform in his pursuit for paid fun. Thats why these places are big in Asia. Asian men are ultra-beta males, with zero game, and have to rely on spending big just to get their willy looked at!
