I asked the question on another post because it is my job to promote this forum. It's hard to promote something when the people already here are unhappy.
From my understanding and talking/observing I've come to these conclusions.
- The baseline is Mrs Langtrees can do as she likes, it is valid to leave if you're not a fan of how she does thing.
- The requirements to sign up to LT.com for Talking Turkey. if you do not wish too that's perfectly fine, but it doesn't limit you to the rest of the forum, just one section so there is still the opportunity to post and banter.
- People have expressed issues with some moderators in 2 ways,
The first being unhelpful comments to posts, posting for the sake of commenting without being helpful. I have seen such comments like "get in the car and drive there" or "google is your friend" when questions about establishments and such come up, instead of directing them to resources that are in the forum. Now is it a mods job to do so, no but it would be nice but also not commenting at all is also helpful. As a community we should be able to answer questions and offer insite.
The second is an air of bullying and letting certain members have special treatment. From what I can see there are no rules here and the forum has done well. Free speech is encouraged, however certain members have been allowed to make aggressive, snarky and disrespectful comments. Some have even been allowed to gang up on members of differing opinions. I have experienced this over the last couple of days. Including seeing comments made about Langtrees and working ladies which were encouraged and co-signed by a moderator. That isn't right and will definitely discourage people from participating in the forum
Do I think the moderation team is bad as a whole? No there are some fantastic people here that are helpful and welcoming. I know it's a volunteer position and all the Mods should be thanked for the hours they put into the server.
Would I like to see those who know who they are take the criticism, look at themselves and keep moderating to improve? Absolutely
No one is asking for heads on pikes but if we have the ability to change what we can in the forum to bring it back to the lively welcoming place it once was, we should do that. The more the merrier!
You are welcome to correct me on anything I've said. You are also welcome to DM me. I want this place to succeed
