Ok. Harry's Bar in Grenfell Street is in one of the many old converted buildings along that strip. I had a battered fish in the street level bar and struggled to get through it as they don't skimp on portions. It was a $10 Monday special and my acompanying scotch and coke was $8.
The front bar menu is not extensive. The fare; fish, steak and parmy. However, upstairs is the Tattersalls Lounge where there is plenty of seating and (I heard) a more extensive menu. I may check that out before xmas too. Several flights of stairs to get to it, but there is a lift if you're not feeling fit.
It's not like your suburban workingman's pub, but probably gets busy after work on Fridays like any other bar, city or suburbs.
Whether there's four of us or twelve, it seems like a reasonable place to meet providing everybody is okay with there being practically no on-street parking in the CBD these days.
My backup plan would be the casino as there are bars and eateries throughout there.
