Have any members on the forum had a prolapse or had experience with a partner with a prolapse?
 
So I went to the doctor today as I suspected I had a prolapse uterus.

I just wasn't feeling right down there. Kind of feels like if you don't put a tampon in correctly and you get that discomfort.

Turns out I was 100% correct about the prolapse.

Apparently some form of prolapse in women is very common and happens to nearly 50% of women in their life..

Whilst the doctor did her thing she said that she didn't think my cervix looked right and took some swabs. She said she can't refer me to a gynecologist until the swab results come back, 10 to 14 days.

I have to admit to being more than a little frightened right now.
 
My ex had other issues gynacologically so I cannot offer experienced words. But I can offer my best wishes and thoughts to you. You always have support here Tania and I am sure your specialist will give you the best advice and care. God bless.

I didn’t quite get why your GP didn’t give you a name of a good specialist and the referral so you can make an appointment, which will in all likelihood be after your test results. In the meantime perhaps you should ask your lady friends if they know of any good specialists. There is always a web search too. Speaking to your specialist will help you understand your condition, what needs to be done and post procedure care and rehabilitation. This, in part will help alleviate your anxiety. The reason I was not referred is because they would need the results from the cancer swab anyway. I will be a pretty much instant admission once results are received. That was her direction.

Suggest doing some research on procedures and specialists. There may also be an online support group of people that have been through the procedure, who would be a wealth of information. The main thing is to follow your intuition.

I spoke to a friend last night who recently had a hysterectomy due to cancer of the cervix. She said when she went to her doctor he could see it straight away but they still need to do the swabs to confirm.
In some ways talking with her was reassuringish (I know its not a real word). Still scared but also a little relieved it can quite often sort of be an easy fix 🤞 I have to admit to being a bit to chicken to look at Dr Google at the moment.

The prolapse seems to be a manageable thing though.

But at the moment it's a waiting game for the results.

The uterus prolapse is an easy fix in the scheme of things. The cervix issue is the scary thing. 2 days down on the waiting.

I will be blogging "as such" the roller coaster I'm presently riding as I think if anyone has gone through or does go through the same thing they will be able to read about my journey.

I have to admit today has been a bit up and down, a few tears, worrying about how bad the results will be, relief from talking to my friend who went through the same thing and had a total hysterectomy when her results were positive for cancer of the cervix. Elation that if it's not spread and a hysterectomy is the fix I won't have to ever deal with periods again, concern about the surgery and recovery time and then frightened of worst case scenario. See what I mean about roller coaster.
I'm very lucky I have an awesome husband and grown up children and wonderful friends who will be there with me through it all and last by not least an amazing support system here with so many of you here on our forum. For that I am grateful xo
 
Try to keep it under wraps until you have the results. Our minds are very powerful and out imagination runs riot. It sounds as though you have an amazing family support structure. Allow them to carry you for a while, warm wishes to you, hoping the results of your tests are minimal, whatever you will deal with it

I've travelled similar roads, but in relation to the boy bits ... and yeah, Taniaa, don't sweat the outcome until the preliminaries are done ... don't go research crazy until all the relevant investigations are in ... and whilst the current waiting period is a drag, self-analysis is not going to alleviate your anxiety or concerns.

However, do not ignore your body ... in this intervening period, should you experience any further change in body function or appearance, do not hesitate to attend your GP for review and advice / reassurance.

.The hard thing about having spent more than 7 years in the medical sector (with St John Ambulance) is having the medical knowledge, that helped others, hanging over like a dark cloud. This waiting game is the worst. Once the results are through we can move forward and start doing stuff. Right now I'm stuck and because of 2 long weekends here my wait is longer.
 
So I'm in a little pain but can't proceed with anything until the results come through. As I've said, this waiting is the hardest part. I even rang the doctors surgery today just in case the results were back but had been over looked, I didn't really think so but,,,

So I'm booked in to get the results tomorrow. The last 13 days have had me sleeping less than I already do (extreme insomniac for years). A steam train of different thoughts going through my head. Tears, but I try not to let NT or anyone else see them. I feel sick with worry and sick about how all of it will be dealt with. Not knowing the future when its health related really sucks. I wouldn't wish it on anyone.
 
I now have to wait until Friday for my results. My doctor was pretty pissed off about it too. Not coping to well right now :(

Are you satisfied that the next step in seeing a specialist of one kind or another won't involve significant delay ?

The early COVID-19 situation in March of this year delayed my Perth hospital admission for a biopsy procedure. With NT apparently only having three active cases at present, I'd imagine that the general medical treatment situation in Darwin is currently functioning quite well.

The doctor won't give the referal as the gynaecologist would need the test results 1st.
