Cancer Scares, All In One Year.

Now this is why she's pissed. She could clearly see a nabothian cyst on my cervix. They form when normal tissue grows over mucus producing glandular tissue. They are always benign and can't cause cancer.
She said that the doctor should have known about these and should not have instilled fear the way she did and she should have followed protocols in place rather than scaring the bejeezus out of me. She said any normal person would think cancer and it's not on.

I can't describe how relieved I am.

I can't thank you all enough for how supportive you have all been and the messages and PM's have really helped through what has been a very frightening and stressful time. I honestly can't put my thanks into words and appreciate you with all my heart xoxox

Good to hear Tania - Hopefully the doctor gets their arse chewed by the gynecologist and changes their bedside manner in the future.

Gidday Tania ... despite the anxiety that you have endured for the past seven weeks, it seems you've come out the other side now with a comprehensive understanding of a particular body zone and the gynaecological reassurance for which you waited that lengthy period of time.

Congratulations ... 🥳 ... It seems you do not require any specific immediate medical treatment, but I do recall your post of 30 July 2020 wherein you mentioned suffering "a little pain". So, where do you go from here ... are things pretty much hunky-dory now ?

Not exactly hunky-dory (I love that saying) but much better than was thought to be. I am now taking something that should stop the pain. If the pain continues she has asked that I go back.
I most definitely feel like a huge weight has been lifted.

I think your good news and relief is enough for us, as no thanks are necessary. You have been put through the ringer but your experience and sharing of your emotions are invaluable to the fair ladies of our community. Surely the lesson here is go see your doctor as soon as you feel or see issues. But, don’t sweat it until the diagnosis is in. Hard to do though hey? Best wishes and love to you babe💋
 
That is great news indeed Tania! And I hope that your Gynecologist does put the fear of god into your Doctor.
 
It seems to be never ending this year. Ugh.

So I've had some pain around my areola and the doctor has requested an ultrasound and a mammogram. I'm 99.9999% confident it's not cancer but the doctor wanted to be thorough.

My last mammogram was 7 years ago.

If any of you have had one you would know they take your breast and squish it into a machine that looks like an ironing press. And damn it hurts, its not pleasant at all.

So joy for me. More poking and prodding.

At least when this comes back clear I will have had a thorough going over. (I'm also having a chest X-ray as I have an ache, feels like bruises but nothing visual, on the sides of my upper back. I'm certain this is muscular from using gardening tools but again Doctor wants to be thorough).


The mammogram got me thinking though. How do small breastfed women fare?
 
Just grateful they don’t test for testicular cancer by squashing your balls in a vice 😢
 
So I went and had my mammogram. Though it was different to the last time I had one it was still uncomfortable. Then lucky me got to have an ultrasound on them as well. Results will be through by next week (I will be away though) but the radiographer said he was allowed to tell me about a few cysts present. Oh Joy for me. Fingers crossed I don't need a needle in them to clear them,. UGH, I hate needles.

Interestingly enough I asked the lady who did my mammogram how they fare with small breasted ladies.
She said it really depends on their breast shape. They are able to pull some out far enough for the machine to do it's thing but she said then there are some that are extremely awkward.

As for me no I will make an appointment for the day after we get back to find out what the doc thinks we should do about the cysts and to see if they picked anything else up. I will also get the results for my chest xray then too. Fun, fun, fun,,,not 🤣
 
I'm getting the results for this on Thursday.

But I do want you all to know how "Not" fun a mammogram is. I had this done 10 days ago and I still have bruising :(
 
The results for my mammogram show cysts in both breasts. They are pretty sure they are benign because of my symptoms but if I get ongoing pain, fluid coming from my nipples or any obvious visual changes they will investigate further.

I've sure been the pin cushion this year.

In saying that they are concerned as I have extremely high readings for my liver enzymes. I have to go back for another blood test in a couple of weeks to see if its going down. 🤞Luckily for me I haven't consumed alcohol for a long time.
 
I would suggest you get a biopsy on that tissue then you will know, catching things early gives you the best chance.

My results were given to me by a fill in doctor as my doctor was away
And you are 100% on the ball. I saw my usual doctor yesterday, his 1st day back and he said that sometimes the radiologist can get it wrong and every day counts so he has referred me as "urgent" to see the specialist surgeon. I'm trying to remain positive, though I am getting some pain which is why I went and got them checked in the 1st place.

Oh what a year!

I have my appointment with the surgeon on Monday the 30th. It all depends on his/her recommendation as to how I proceed. 2020 has been a waiting game and quite scary health wise for me.
 
I suggest you think about your options and have your questions prepared beforehand, its easy to get flustered in the emotion of it and forget things.
 
Hope it all goes well Tania, best wishes! My ex had a fibrous lump removed in 1995 and that was truly scary for her.

Which hospital are you going to, to see the surgeon? If you need to chat via inbox, please do it. I know it's scary for you.

Turns out that they are just cysts. Unfortunately nothing can be done about the pain though. The specialist wants me to have 6 monthly mammograms and ultrasounds for the next couple of years to monitor them. Good news that they aren't cancerous though.
 
Tania - You must be very relieved to hear that they are not cancerous even though you have put up with the pain. Hopefully it becomes a bit more bearable. 😊☺☺😊

Good to hear and sounds like you will be looked after into the future too.
Hope you can find a pain solution that works for you.
 
Thanks so much for your support through this. The pain I will have to deal with as it seems to over ride the pain relief I use for my back and I'm to stubborn to take anything stronger or that may be addictive.
