Not a legend at all, just a normal sort of person.
I think in most cases it helps if you can speak their language, and fluently and kind of have a good knowledge of places they come from, be it china, HK or singapore. Also helps if you understand their culture, upbringing etc.

The 'residential area' bit has nothing to do with it. It is illegal to run a brothel anywhere in Western Australia.

This is a political ploy to pave the way for the Liberal Govt's fucked up new sex industry legislation - nothing else. Brothels will be increasingly raided and exposed in the media over the coming months, particularly Asian parlours and/or those in residential areas, to prove a point that the new laws are needed. Asian sex workers are the perfect target, because trafficking/sex slave hysteria and inherent racism make it easier for the media to demonise them and the community to 'Other' them.

I know I say this a lot, but it's even more important at the moment: PLEASE be extra careful when giving details about individual sex workers and parlours on sites like these. If possible, don't be explicit about illegal acts (you are silly, BBS, unprotected DATY, etc) on the public forums (use PMs) and don't respond to requests for graphic detail from new members with one post to their name. The police can't act without evidence... don't do their job for them!

Also, please keep your eyes on legislative developments and, if at all possible, consider putting in a submission against the proposed new laws. Sex workers are not the only ones who will suffer under this legislation. For example, did you know they intend to include an extended prison term for clients who see sex workers who are coerced into working...WHETHER YOU KNEW THEY WERE COERCED, OR NOT?! Combined with Federal sex slavery laws and other legislation undermining a sex worker's perceived agency, clients could very easily find themselves on the wrong side of the law.

Sorry to ramble about this again, but we REALLY need to do something about this fucked up proposal, before it's too late!

STREET PROSTITUTION CHARGES

Perth City detectives conducted a two day operation in the Highgate area targeting people soliciting street prostitutes.

The operation which took place between 1st to 2nd December 2010 resulted in nine people being charged with Seeking a Prostitute in a Public Place and nine people being given Move On Notices under the Prostitution Act.

Acting Detective Senior Sergeant John Spence said "Over the coming months, officers will continue targeting street prostitutes and the people soliciting their services".

Rubber Nursey is a former sex worker who now spends a lot of her time working in sex worker advocacy. If you think that means she's working for the other side, have another close read of her post above and think again.

The proposed draconian legislation is bad news for both WLs and punters. A couple of the most worrying aspects...

  • Currently WLs can work for themselves. The new laws will outlaw private workers so WLs will have to work for an establishment. A few licensed establishment owners will get rich and life will be much easier for the authorities (licensing, police, immigration & tax). Bad luck for switched on business ladies who want to set themselves up in a couple of years. And bad luck for us punters with less choices and higher prices in an artificially limited market. The trade practices commission should have a look at this.
  • I applaud measures to penalise punters who knowingly visit WLs who have been coerced but making us culpable even if we don't know the lady has been coerced attacks fundamental pillars of justice. (If I buy a stolen TV but did so in good faith I will not be charged. If I sleep with a girl I met in a nightclub and she used her sister's id to get in I have a very defendable position) How are we to know if the lady has a drug debt? What if she's fallen behind in her mortgage, could she claim she is being coerced by her bank?
  • Advertising will be restricted to certain print publications only. Without internet advertising (and pictures) we'll be stepping back 10+ years. Where does this leave escort review forums? Will positive reviews be deemed advertising and potentially put forum owners in hot water?

I have absolutely no idea what we can do but i'm terrified that in years to come we may look back at the last few years as the 'good old days' (fake pics and all!)

May I suggest the mods split the post above and this one into a new thread in WA Sex Industry Questions. The issue is not specific to the lady discussed in this thread
