Hello everyone,
I've been informed that many of our clients are from Karratha. It got me thinking about going on a tour there, so I would greatly appreciate any recommendations on which places to visit or any locations I should avoid.

Thank you,

Karratha is a great idea Alana. Of course, the distances between the towns are large. Hedland for example is 2.5 hrs away (240kms).
Smaller places like Tom Price, Paraburdoo, Pannawonica (200kms sth west) may not have enough work for you. If you were wanting to combine the working tour with sight-seeing that would be a good idea because the land is beautiful. There are dinosaur footprints 130 milion yrs old near the Broome boat ramp. Air fares are not cheap. I suggest having a chat to someone familiar with the Pilbara and the Kimberley (Broome area) and give careful considerations to the costs. I loved my time in Karratha. Hope that helps a little, Alana.

From memory (yonks ago) in Darwin, a local brothel owner floated a similar idea for using a bus set up as a mobile bordello to visit remote mining towns/camps. Remember it being covered in the NT News as she was applying for a licence to ensure it was all legit, from a regulation perspective. Maybe Mrs Langtrees might also remember this??? Not sure if it ever got off the ground,

My suggestion would be put ads up for some of the other remote mining areas and see if they will pre-book and pay a deposit. Refund deposits if you choose not to travel there due to not enough bookings and financial viability.

I know a few girls that tour up north during winter and they make a fucking killing!
They live in vans or caravans so they can be completely independent and move between the towns freely. Some places are amazing and others are pretty shit so it's good to have the ability to leave a town that isn't making money.

Depending on where they are, they might get a hotel or air BNB but usually end up doing a fair amount of outcalls.

I'm going to try it out this winter at some point

Spent over 6 years repping between Esperance and Darwin.

This is how I would handle it.

Have a driver/companion who is your buddy.

Your driver buddy handles all your bookings.

You use a camper van which becomes your safe haven/ home at caravan parks during you tour.

You do out calls only to local hotels or homes.

Your buddy drops you off and picks you up after each booking on Vespa like scooter which travels on the back of your camper.

You could do this successfully with up to 3 girls + driver.

Pre advertise your anticipated locations and enjoy your holiday

and if you’re starting in the Pilbara, why not start in Tom Price/Pararburdoo, the spend some time off in the Karajini gorges, then move to Nerman before heading off to the larger cities of Karratha and Port headland.

A lot of clients have come in recently from Newman. Lots of fifo workers then they go back up there. I would imagine there’s work in Newman for sure but the crime is out of control at those towns these days. Even the mine sites can’t leave keys in the cars when opening gates etc because the locals steal them. Just be hyper vigilant 💙
Yes please be careful. The crime is horrendous. The CBD is safe compared to “up north” and east and south.
