I saw this on FB this morning. If there are suspended products in Perth I wish to purchase some. And before anyone jokes about it, I'll beat you to it. I don't think there will be suspended punts.....

Have a look below.....

"We enter a little coffeehouse with a friend of mine and give our order. While we’re approaching our table two people come in and they go to the counter:

‘Five coffees, please. Two of them for us and three suspended’ They pay for their order, take the two and leave.

I ask my friend: “What are those ‘suspended’ coffees?”
My friend: “Wait for it and you will see.”

Some more people enter. Two girls ask for one coffee each, pay and go. The next order was for seven coffees and it was made by three lawyers - three for them and four ‘suspended’. While I still wonder what’s the deal with those ‘suspended’ coffees I enjoy the sunny weather and the beautiful view towards the square in front of the café. Suddenly a man dressed in shabby clothes who looks like a beggar comes in through the door and kindly asks
‘Do you have any suspended coffee?’

It’s simple - people pay in advance for a coffee meant for someone who can not afford a warm beverage. The tradition with the suspended coffees started in Naples, but it has spread all over the world and in some places you can order not only a suspended coffee, but also a sandwich or a whole meal.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have such cafés or even grocery stores in every town where the less fortunate will find hope and support? If you own a business why don’t you offer it to your clients… I am sure many of them will like it.

They need some of this comradery in Perth I think. There has just been an Indian restaurant opened at Elizabeth Quay that apparently feeds homeless people and volunteers work there. Also, if you are a paying customer, you pay whatever you feel like at the end . I was watching other customers, intrigued as to what they were paying. It averaged about $10 a meal. By the way, great vegetarian food yum! I'll be going back there.

I wonder if this restaurant is run by the Hari Krishna?
They did run one in Northbridge once

It used to be interesting to see who donated the most
I know looks are deceiving but it often seemed the average Joe was more generous that the expensive suit set

We have a few coffee places here in Adelaide that do this and when I worked in cafe at the church we had the same thing for meals, coffee etc its amazing how such a small gesture can bring much joy to another. We become fearful and ashamed of people less fortunate than ourselves but goodness forbid we may end up in that position ourselves one day.

I like the pay as you feel or what you think it's worth. I know a lady who makes beautiful handmade items and she barters a lot exchanging things for what she needs and when selling things no set price it's pay what you can afford or what you feel it's worth.

I 100% agree with H2 the average person would give more from experience it's the ones with money take more than the ones in need.
