To me it seems to me it dont matter if your creationist or a scientist who believes in the big bang theory
Ask a creationist where god came from Oh he has always been You need faith
The scientist says the cosmos was originally one huge mass of rock It exploded stating the universe Where did that rock come from Again it must come down to a belief it was there So faith
They are both religions to me

Mix the two together, God and science. Have they ever thought of God as some funky alien race who are really good with science. The big bang is all them. Maybe the ice age is a huge mistake that they rather wipe everything out and start again? Back to the drawing board kinda thing.

I would think that despite the light hearted humor.....your answer is the closest.

And if he was...may be looking up and asking the same questions from his level.

Spot on, Happy
It doesn't matter a Tinker's cuss what we think or don't think.
It matters not, as there is only one truth and that truth is not affected at all by what you or I think, believe or perceive.
One day, we will either find out that there is God, or we will just die. The Bible says that it is given for each man to die....

Soooo, here is our choice. We can adopt a faith, which encourages us to live a life that is "good". If God is true, then there is potential for us to receive a reward and we would have lived a "good" life.

Or, we can decide to live a life that is "good". If God is true, but we don't believe, then there is a question regarding the reward. If God is false, at least we have lived a life that was "good".

Or, we can be totally hedonistic; f*ck the system; f*ck being good; f*ck you all, you mob of c*nts. I'll do what the f*ck I like. If God is true, then you are headed for the pit. If not, then you have been very, very unhappy and have made a lot of other people very, very unhappy. If God is false, then you have still lived a very unhappy and selfish life.

Now, I know, without doubt that there really is no such person as a true altruist. It just doesn't happen. We all want something, even if it is just the publicity (Mother Theresa springs to mind as an ideal example). So, just living a "good" life brings it's own rewards and that may be enough, but just imagine if you could enjoy your life AND collect a reward afterwards.

If God is true, then it is win-win. If I were a betting man, that's where my money would go. I just couldn't lose.

One of my favorite interviews Spikey was with an atheist who did much good work
That was Fred Hollows he was in his last week or two of life after battling cancer
Ray Martin asked him towards the end of the interview
" What will happen if you find out there is a god"
" Well I believe that will be a time for some very sincere negotiations"
Paraphrasing but you get my drift I hope

Yes, happy. As I said "If God is true, but we don't believe, then there is a question regarding the reward".
However, given that if God is true, he has provided us his instruction manual and we have an entire lifetime to decide whether to put our faith in it or not. Isn't that long enough, or are you saying that the late, great Fred Hollows wanted a bet each way? I don't think it works like that.

What I find interesting in your point is that Fred Hollows was at a time in his life when he had actually given thought to the question.I wonder if he made a decision on which horse to ride to the finish line; or did he just sit back and take his chances?
Whatever his choice, I still agree that he was a great man. Unfortunately, if God is true, then Hell is populated by a great number of unbelieving philanthropists. A great shame.
