A few short weeks has passed as I have maximised time in solitude to reflect on manifested karma at the hands of those who are creating their own karma and meditate a better road for the future.

Through fate I hear about a new motion picture depicting the life of Christ. It was said to express his life like never before. I made a choice to be around people for an evening and watch this film. I guess I hoped that this film would bring to visual life some of the truths about Jesus that has been hidden from general humanity.

No it did not........it was another very well presented film straight out of the new testament. I did like how human emotions from Jesus was displayed however. It portrayed well that he is a truly enlightened individual who strived to share his wisdom because of his love of people.

Son of God is not as well presented as the Passion of Christ for the realism of violence of Jews and Romans against the prophet.

Over-ally the film left me in a state of sadness as it is a powerful reminder of how humans can be so nasty to each other for a plethora of reasons that all stem back to the ego. I was brought to tears more than once at how vulgar and violent humans are. Yet on the flip side individuals like Jesus and his disciples act without holding back in the name of love which is beautiful.

This film was worth coming out of my cave for.

Has anyone else seen this movie?

Nope, and I probably won't.

I agree wholeheartedly with your sentiments regarding the life of Christ. He certainly was a remarkable and enlightened man and well ahead of his time but at a time when any form of political activism was frowned upon he paid a terrible price for sharing his wisdom.

It is important, however to remember that He was a man. An enlightened, courageous and remarkable one but a man none the less, not a God or even the son of one.

It is a shame that the example set by His remarkable life has also spawned the curse of religious bigotry which, over several centuries has caused more grief worldwide than it has done good. If J.C. could see the overall result of what he had started I think he would be very unhappy.

On the other-hand, although it is clear that religions (or at least the difference between them) have caused more and bloodier wars than the struggle for power or property, which seems to be the other reason, it is also plain that Christianity and Christian ideals (the lessons Jesus taught) have given rise to the most selfless acts imaginable. This began with the sacrifice of Jesus himself, who was crucified and died for all of our sins.
Christianity has survived and thrived for more than 2,000 years, so either the vast majority of all the people who have ever lived since then are totally gullible, or dare I say that perhaps Jesus was both a man and is the Son of God? I think that actually was the point.

If they change the name of the movie title to Son of a God, I might go watch it, and Will Ferrell and Steve Carrell will have to be in it.

If they depict the life of Jesus as it was, there won't be a movie. It would be Geeeeeezus!

Anyway don't crucify me and stone me for saying this, but it is believe that he may have been a disciple of Buddha?

There is a lot of speculation in that as a fact. He was said by many historians that he traveled to the far East as a child. And many scriptures from India speak of him.

And his wisdom that is heavily edited in the Holy Bible barely scratches the surface of what the man is really about.

I agree.... he was a man. A truly enlightened man that wanted to share that anyone can be as enlightened as him. As he and the rest of us are a part of the source. Son of God was his terminology.

And I believe that he had no intention of having the political/religious powers that be use his name the way they use it.

He was a man. And he was the Son of God as he chose to portray it to the understandings of the minds at the time along with the many parables that was geared for the understanding then.

What he can do we can do and more was one of his messages. Anyone else that wakes up to his amazing extent may also realise they are a part...son...daughter of our great Universe. ...

Just wondering, Yoda. You mentioned that Jesus' words were heavily edited in the Holy Bible. Do you have a copy of the original transcript? I would love to compare with what He actually said.

Isn't it amazing that so many people know, without a doubt, what Jesus actually meant and how he would feel now, etc? All we have is what is written in the Bible. I'll say that again: All we have is what is written in the Bible.

I don't have that privilege. ...but the Pope does... ask him instead. Unless he has lent it to his latest girlfriend.

That would be Obama ....

Ah yes... JC payed a price for sharing his knowledge. His crucifixion came from the powerful one on a throne that did not have his wisdom.

Nothing has changed. .... in todays world... those who stand out and have their own way and inspire others are crucified in different ways by dipshits behind a desk that is much much less wise and often with the self esteem and ego of a child.

Yet the great ones like JC follow through.

The son of GOD is Gary Ablett jnr Because his Father was nicknamed God when he played for Geelong
But as maybe with Christianity the son has outshone the Father

This is the main problem with the Bible and the main reason I distrust people who look to it as "the word of God".

It is not the word of God.

It was written by men who witnessed events and described them from their own understanding filtered through their own prejudices and biases. When these writings, known as the "Dead Sea Scrolls", came to light scholars pored over them, translated them as best they could and from the whole mass of information selected what they considered to be the salient points and constructed the Bible.

Those accounts which made it into the Bible were those the scholars considered to be most authentic, ie were recorded by more than one writer or could be verified by other historical records. The remainder, roughly a third, was discarded and is known as the "apocrypha".

So here is what we have:

Two thirds of a mass of text written in a language no longer spoken.

Translated from the original Aramaic into modern Hebrew.

Re-translated into English.

Interpreted by different religions in different ways according to their particular beliefs.

This is hardly the kind of evidence a Court of Law would consider adequate.

Yes, there is a lot of wisdom there and most people could benefit from applying the underlying principles to their lives but there is no divine entity behind all of this - the churches, like the good book itself are the work of men.

Sadly, too, many who profess to serve "God" are in fact only using people's beliefs to cement their own power over them.

I agree.......

Organised religion have agendas that JC or Buddah and others alike would not even acknowledge.

Too often I see prayers and incense offered in wish of benefits like wealth and a good days businesses. While there is no wrong in that.......would true celestial beings even want to hear about that?

I have seen Cops and Gangsters worship the same god Gwan Gong in a wish to defeat each other. What would Gwan Gong do?

Well said, maybe to add that the scholars didn't include all scrolls and in several historical (2 or 3 if i recall correct) coventions the "leadership team" has refined the selection of the content further

Truth is human nature can't handle the fact that like every other life form we will be born live and die..full stop.
Im sure JC was a great guy, but did he die and come back so that people of a tiny region of the earth can follow him, please………

Well, Homer, if there is only one God, then he doesn't need a name.
It would be like asking what "light's" name is

True that but as we all know the Universe is a huge hole. There will be more than 1 God. Hard to identify which god your calling for when go, Oh My God!

In one logical mind, one would not ask for the light's name, because it's taken for granted. Lights on, lights off.
