In my opinion silence would/should leave a guy wondering how he can make things work better for his partner.

On the other hand, obvious faking would/should mess with head.

I am surprised that nobody has mentioned it on the forum so far (sorry if I missed a post but as far as I can tell......) as it turned out to be a major scandal in the sporting world..........a very sophisticated and well worked out plan. I am still asking myself how he/they could have done it. (As far as I recall they tested Armstrong several times and he always tested negative........some people thought it was a set up higher up to get rid og him out of what ever reason.).
However the next question that comes to mind is the fact that Armstrong is "only" a team member. So if it really happened as they claim it has happened....... who is behind it and how high up the ladder is this scandal actually going?
And if team Armstrong was able to hide it for so long who else could have and might be still hiding it?

If you read today's west inside back sports page, a good article related to your questions.

It would seem that Lance was the instigator, co-ordinator and coercer and enforcer, for his team US postal and other teams eventually followed suit just to try and keep in touch with US postal in the peleton.

Cycling is a sport and everyone in every sport from amateurs to professionals have their good days and their bad days. But not if your name was Lance Armstrong or you rode for his US postal team, for they always had great days in the peleton. Think about it - for 20 days x nine riders never to have a bad day?, this is near impossible unless they were taking drugs which of course they were. After Lance one the Tour de France for the third time, I said there was no way he won it cleanly and have maintained it to this day, at times taking great derision from fellow cyclists for this point of view.

You must remember that in that period 1998 - 2005 drug tests for cyclists were very poor. Lance may say that he never tested positive, but 1) It seems that he was tipped off about upcoming testing, 2) The tests at the time were very poor and they knew simple ways to in effect doctor the samples being given,3) He never tested positive in a published result, however it seems that not all his samples were actually tested/ results published.

Why, perhaps it was all covered up by the UCI - the world cycling governing body.

Thankfully it seems that Cadel, Bradley and Mark Cavendish and most riders today are clean.
