Hi lovelies,
Merry Christmas to all of you and a happy New Year.
I hope all of you get a bit of a break and charge up the batteries for a fast and furious 2014.
I am off to the wild south of WA. And unless I get eaten by a shark or strangled by a snake I will be back on the forum and at Langtrees on the 6th of January. Until then all the best.
Kiss Hug Smile ;)

Can somebody tell me why the Poms don't want to hand over the Ashes?
Is there a bit of poor sportsman ship going on (well Poms.....what do you expect)? or is there more to it? Has that happened before?

having the Ashes in their position makes them feel superior . like when the yanks lost the Americas' Cup.

It may just have to do with the fact that the urn would probably fall apart if moved. it is a touch on the delicate side now
And imagine the headlines in old blighty if it happened to be in Australia where it crumbled
When the ashes toured hear last I remember the insurance bill was horrendous

But they did used to put the Urn on another shelf when we won So thats nice of them isnt it ?
Anyway the Ashes have never been the actual prize The original ashes were a personal gift to the English Captain Ivo Bligh

They claim the actual urn is too fragile now to be moved...
Ohhhhhh how convenient that the urn is too fragile now while in the UK...........and from an ashes point of view Australia is a far nicer place to be spread than the UK............

I hope they moved the urn at least on the top shelf...........

Yes they are apparently too precious to move. Also maybe the poms are worried the Aussies might take the celebrations too far and drink beer out of the urn. Looks like Rogers went too hard last night and didn't make it to the opera house reception today. Ha haa

I know they (the laws) have been introduced a while ago but I just thought about it today again after they said on the morning news that a lot of bikers cancelled their participation on the Ulysses charity ride this year.
Honestly I do think that Campbell is going absolutely over the top with those laws.
Apparently members of the Ulysses (bikers not bikies) have been harassed by the police during the build up of the charity ride and decided not to take part...............what the hell?????????
It really looks like the new laws discriminate everybody who owns a motorbike in Queensland.
Sad Mr. Campbell.........very sad.

hi Rochelle , yes Newman is going over the top as i believe the new laws are discrimative ,every one who rides a motor bike is subject to the new laws no matter who they are and this has been proven already ( as you mentioned on the Ulysses ride ( this club was started by the return VETS )

The Ulysses Club was formed in 1983 from an idea put forward by Stephen Dearnley (ol' number 1). It is a social club for people over the age of 40 with a common interest in motorcycles. The club motto is "Grow old disgracefully", which translates to having a good time irrespective of age.
The club is Australia-wide, with branches in all states and a membership of more than 26,500. Members come from all walks of life, and their motorcycles are all sizes and makes, from small scooters to large muscle bikes. All are welcome.
