yes it was, 1942, i recall many moons ago, feeding the machine dollar after dollar, that one time I hit high score and I gave myself a high five and continued to feed that hungry machine. *doh!*
Yes, I remember that, I also hated it when you spend ages and got the high score only to find that the next day someone switched the machine off and on, and all the scores were wiped out
