Huh? Shes not ovetaking. There stopped and shes riding to he left
Zero question the passenger is 60% at fault the other 40 goes to the taxi driver for being pulled up at the kerb before allowing his passenger out

I think the cyclist was probably in the wrong, however, both people handled it terribly.

Hate to say it after Rochelles accident But I think the cyclist was more than happy I mean the camera isnt
everyday wear for cyclists is it ?
To me And this is my thought only I would not be surprised if she rode around til such an incident Just felt as if she was prepared Again just me
As for passenger saying sorry Wouldnt we all? Its a natural reaction

Well, I don't know about anyone else but when I get out of a parked car from the passenger side I do not usually check for traffic.

Why pass a parked car on the inside? It doesn't take a psychic to figure out that someone is going to open a door and get out of the thing.

Cyclists are vulnerable, ridicuously so. Theyshould be aware of that and ride accordingly. Better still they should stay off busy roads altogether as they are a danger to themselves and everyone else they encounter.

Yes there has to be commonsense and courtesy on our roads
My pet hate is One that happens every year up here
Every harvest A Geraldton bike group decide its time for a country ride on a bad single lane road with
very few areas for them to pull over
The road is dangerous at the best of times but with dozens of laden wheat trucks it even worse
And at the silo there is always one or two who come over to protest being nearly run over
We all have the right to use these roads refrain wears thin There are 11 months of the year when there is bugger traffic but NO!!

Yes I agree that saying sorry would be natural and the lady reacted oddly also, instead of taking a moment to recuperate she starts immediately on the fact that its his fault and there is a camera. Strange behavior for the victim of an accident.

now this is the law in QLD a car must be 1 mtr away from a cyclist which means the same in reverse . i agree with H2 . this is a touchy subject and it has been said that cyclist will add a camera to the bike for evidence in a case like this . it has also been said the cyclist will ride around looking for an incident for a insurance payout like they do with cars on cars . i still believe that every one who uses the road for transport should be licensed and have insurance just like cars, motor bikes , trucks , buses and any other form or transport .
where is the car drivers protection from a cyclist .

it is a shame as it is the world we all live in now

I am a cyclist myself occasionally. But my attitude when I ride is "who is going to try to kill me today?" I am always looking in the windows and mirrors of the vehicles that I am passing to see if someone is going to do something unexpected. Both on push bike and motorbike. That cyclist was totally in the wrong. Unless that line on the side of the road was a designated bike lane. If it was, then the taxi driver is at fault for not checking his mirrors before letting his passengers exit the vehicle. But even if it's not her fault, she is still an idiot for not expecting that anyway.

Bike Rider / Cyclist Hit By Car (Brisbane Dashcam)

Published on Mar 16, 2014
YES the rider is ok, YES he has a copy of the footage, NO I have not given it to the police - this is 100% between the rider and the police if he chooses to take any further action. YES, the driver stopped and assisted in every way possible and has been in amicable contact with the rider.

(NOTE: There is no sound as I'd accidentally put my dashcam in 'mute' mode when I reinstalled it after a windscreen change. This is probably for the best as I said some unsavory things when it happened.)

A bike rider is knocked from his bike during the Friday afternoon commute by a lady in a white Audi hatchback. Anyone familiar with the area will recognise that set of traffic lights as being a bit of a mad scramble as people dive into the temporary lane to get in front of the queue (MGIF!)

I took off gently (admittedly this is due more to a lack of horsepower and a lot of weight in the service van more so than any moral highground decision on my part), fully expecting to be cutoff as usual... so you can imagine my surprise when they chose to ram the bike instead.

The good news is that the bloke looks to be ok - aside from some missing skin and a few interesting bruises. The helmet broke on impact so he was taken to hospital as a precaution. Mad props to the people who stopped and helped, and to the ambulance who was there within all of a minute or two. The bike also stood up well, with a rim or two the only casualty. All in all a very lucky ending to what could have been a really bad accident.

The moral of the story? If you're driving around bikes - who are legally allowed and fully entitled to use the road - PAY ATTENTION! Just calm down and give them room, don't try and chop and change lanes dangerously just to arrive home a car length ahead of where you would have been if you'd chilled a little.

The car wasn't parked. It was stopped in traffick. Shes riding up the bike path on the left correctly
The guys in the cab have decided to get out rather than pay to sit in traffick and dedpite the cab being in the middle of the road have opened the door straight into the bike lane.
Exactly how is that the bikes fault?
The cabby should have refused them exit until he had pulled over to the kerb

I know its an entertainment show But did anyone see Top gear when two of them road bikes in London on the roads proper And even there These two car nuts were surprised how courteous drivers were to them. If they showed courtesy and common sense while riding the bikes
Both sides need to pull there heads in at times

bushseeker, that was not a bike path, not even remotely close to being wide enough
correct Zombie , a bike path has 2 white lines and the bike rides between them , in this cas the single white line is for the vehicle to park or travel to so as not to use the gutter

Perth drivers have a shocking anti bike mentality as shown by one of the members here being mown down and the remarks here
I see it often first hand
I too was nearly run down. Iwas riding along kalamunda road which is nice a and wide when I got a bad feeling and skipped off up onto the footpath. That second I heard the car behind me hit the kerb he was that anxious to run me over
And if I had a $ for every 20some thing wanker with bali sleeve tats yelling as they go past or chucking stuff out the window id be rich

Blind freddy can see in that clip they got out in the middle of the road rather than wait for the cabby to pull up at the kerb
The cab was stopped in traffick and the cyclist was quite entitled to continue riding up the left side
Ive had cabbies refuse to let me out until they parked correctly which they are entitled to do for safety.
That was the issue there.. not the cyclist

Ok this is from a victorian police sergent which should educate some of the ignorant car only drivers on here.
Clearly the cabbie and passengers were at fault for not indicating snd pulling to the kerb.
If the cabbie had been indicating that he was pulling over different story

Was Collins Street a designated bike lane where the cyclist was riding a bike lane? No, it isn't, but the cyclist is quite entitled to be in that left lane.

"Motorcyclists technically can't, because they are motor vehicles – that's overtaking on the left... bicycles excepted. The only time bicycles can't go up a lefthand side of a motor vehicle is when the vehicle is indicating and in the process of turning," he said.

Well, being a cyclist yourself bushseeker, wouldn't you have been looking through the rear window of the cars you were passing to ensure that you weren't taken out by some idiot opening a door? I know I always do. I don't hate cyclists. I hate stupid people regardless of what type of vehicle they are operating. I don't trust any other vehicle to do the right thing and as such, I always try to be prepared for any stupidity that is thrown at me.

Well it didnt take me long to prove my comment about perth drivers attitudes to bikes.
Im riding through freo and got abused for riding in a dedicated marked bike lane

Unfortunately Bushseeker I think the attitude you talk of is not solely the dedicated to cyclists It is a universal
Disregard for anybody else on the roads in Perth
Just being on a bike you are in a more intimate situation More close up and personal

cyclist ride with their heads down watching the front wheel instead of reading the traffic , the reason being because they think they protected by the law . i don't hate cyclists just the ones who put themselves in harms way same as a car driver with a 40t semi trailer :) :)

My last comment on this now. Regardless of who is in the wrong here, people should just start being nice to each other. Accidents happen. If you hurt someone, say sorry. If someone has hurt you, they might not have meant to. Give them the benefit of doubt. If we all just apologise and accept apologies for what they are, I think we would all be a lot better off.

Oh, and give thank you waves when you're driving. It's not that hard and it will brighten someone's day.

Thats a silly comment johnlou
As I cyclist I can assure you 1000% more attention is getting paid than your averadge car driver.
You just wouldnt last long on the road if you only paid as much attention as a driver
Soooo many idiots on the road when it comes to sharing a road with bikes
