Health check notification by GP

Yorkshire Lad

Gold Member
I recently came across an article regarding STI health checks and learned that it appears mandatory for the GP to submit a report if a patient has been diagnosed with a reportable disease. My question is what happens afterwards and what happens to that information? It occurred to me that if my wife and or family were to learn of this it would be devastating and probably cause the breakup of our marriage. I should also mention that my wife and I have not engaged in any form of sexual contact for a number of years, so if I were to contract an STI then any contact tracing would only have to be made with the WL’s I had met. I’d value any knowledge or experience people may have had please as it may make me rethink, albeit reluctantly on my punting activities

There is an online place that does it.. cant remember the name.. someone on here will know.. u download paperwork and take to Pathology and get results sent to u in a few days.. A bit more expensive but anonymous.
Maybe try a google search as well.

You can fly to Bali and have yourself tested there. While you are there, you can also have some more cheap punting too :excited:

My query was more about the notification sent in by the GP. I’m having a few health problems at the moment and seem to be getting regular blood tests for various things, just worried one day something might show up and want to know if anything will come back and bite me on the arse so the missus finds out

ooo i see. Im no doctor, but as far as I know, unless the blood test specifically targeting STI testing, you should be ok. Having said all of that, there is such thing as i.e. "indicator" of blood infection which I think what you are concerning about. Again, I am not a doctor or health professional. But if it's like testing your cholesterol, blood sugar, etc. I dont think anything will come up. You said you had regular blood tests, logic dictates that if you are prescribed the same test and the previous results didnt raise any redflag, you should be ok. Feel free to private message me if you have further question; since this discussion appears to become more of private and personal nature. All the best Mate. Hope things works out for you.

The test results are between you and your GP, contact tracing is down to you, so highly unlikely that your results can be known by anyone but yourself.
You need to request the sexual health test specifically, its not part of routine testing.
I had all mine done recently as part of my overall checks.
No issues and peice of mind, add in your urine tests as well.
It's the responsible thing to do, if your activity is regular.

Thanks JSAU the thing that worried me was the article said that the doctor had a mandatory requirement to submit the form as required by WA legistration there was a copy of it and all the patients personal information was on it, no problem if it just goes into a government file but if it means there would be direct contact to my home address then I would be in trouble. I might be overthinking this but the repercussions could be life changing

Instantscripts, an online practice. $20 or an STI pathology test referral with results emailed to you, normally within 2-3 days

If it does and your missus finds out I suspect a bite on the arse might be the least of your troubles! Start googling “ways to get STI not involving contact sexual activity”.

Yes I have used Instant Scripts myself. When I was worried about an STI a while back I realised you could get amoxycillin on there without a medical consultation, which is commonly used for treating clamidya etc. I also had a STI test at the local doctor. False alarm. The results of the tests are in MyGov somewhere (if you have linked Medicare in there) but won't be disclosed to anyone without your permission.

I reckon that would be depending on the type of the Missus, don't you think? some may let you slide, some may not 😁. oo, i don't know if you agree with this, but Women are not stupid. so might be better off saying "I'm a normal Man" and I have the need to stay healthy. gotta keep the penis at prime condition. i even come across articles that says "if you dont use it, you loose it". meaning, our dick can get smaller if we dont use it.... Each to their own gents. All the best

Each state has a different legislation. It falls under the Public Health Act.
When I worked in the prison system. It was one of the questions we asked new inmates. Do you have a communicable disease? In fact, they have a surveillance section at the Communicable Disease Control Branch Disease surveillance and investigation and publish annual reports. These cover a broad range of things

As I read the legislation, it is not just a GP that must report the details of a positive STI/STD test (urine, swab or blood) for any of the "reportable STIs (not all STIs are reportable eg I don't think herpes and candida are not on the reportable list), but a pathologist doing the test has the same legal obligation - there is as I understand the legislation, no such thing as an anonymous positive STI check unless you buy an online self test kit or find an overseas lab to send your sample to (sample integrity and necessary follow-up becomes an issue!)
One Friday a month Club 103 swingers club in Belmont has an arrangement with the WA Aids council for free STI testing for all genders in as close to anonomous situation as you could hope to find in WA. (Next is Friday 24/11)

Better to know than not, there's no getting away from the fact it's a possibility of unknowingly sharing a STI and or obtaining one.
Hope people don't put of getting a heath check simply because of the report concerns.
Good to see there is a service that removes the concerns that some have of the report.

I went to get a screening at Peer Based Harm Reduction in the city not long ago. It felt pretty anonymous, no medicare details were taken (no payment required either). The nurse did get my contact details for follow up. Results came back negative, but they go through Pathwest, so i'm not sure what would happen if anything came back positive.

Cheers mate not wanting to get personal but when I looked them up it sounded like they provided the service for drug users, I’m 70 so don’t think I’ll fit their profile, pm me if you need to, and like you say pathwest would have to report a positive test, where to go isn’t as critical as what level of reporting goes on if anyone tests positive. Don’t want to have to change my punting habits after 20 years but wouldn’t want to risk everything else at home, I’d be happier knowing there’s a safe route out from a positive test than the alternatives.

I get the concern but I don't think they have a specific profile. Seems like they provide this service to benefit the community full stop.

I’ve always used South Terrace Clinic in Fremantle for routine tests. I’m not sure what all the stigma about being anonymous etc is. They won’t give your details or results out to anyone but you.
Very professional and completely free.

any clinics which provide free testing services for sti checks around belmont/vic park...kindly pm me...just want to know the details In case required...ta

Hey Yourkshire Lad,

As far as I’m aware, the mandatory requirement they have to send in is literally just statistic information. I.e sex, age, sti contracted.
Absolutely nothing personal.

STIs may affect general blood tests that indicate things like liver issues, before they ask pointed questions and do more specific tests. I've got blood pressure and liver issues, so I'm asked about my drinking (which is minimal) then told about my need to lose weight, when any new Dr sees my test results. The family conversation may be harder to avoid if you're obviously unwell and can't blame something else, but early diagnosis can stop many things from being problems.

I only see sexworkers who are obviously fussy about health checks and hygiene, but you can get a Hepatitis B vaccine that did not exist 40 years ago.

This is what i was lead to believe as well.
They would also tell you to contact sexual partners to let them know to get tested but they cant just do around telling people willy nilly

Have been with 3 different girls at Hany’s in the last week or so. I now have a severe case of herpes on my mouth and on penis. Will definitely be giving this place and any others in Rockingham a miss from now on.

Dought it would show up in under a week, could of caught it a month ago and is only just showing up now.

That shit Herpes and HIV you have for life it comes then goes away then comes back at any time. You can catch it through ,Sex Daty, kissing, natural blow job even a body slide believe it or not. It doesn't even have to be visible for the customer or w/l to catch it and it will fuck the rest of their life up. The the person doesn't have to be a dirty person or unhygienic. It just has to be someone who does not take care and doesn't use protection. It just spreads especially when a working lady has caught it and she says 8-10 customers a day and she doesn't use protection. Most people don't have visual symptoms to start off with, they find out from liver damage. So be careful everybody. You have one life, and it can be hard enough without having another hurdle in front of you. 🙏🏻
