Last ditch appeal to save Asia Bibi, sentenced to death under Pakistan’s tough blasphemy laws IT ALL started because her Muslim colleagues allegedly refused to share water with her and ended with a death sentence.
Asia Bibi was working on a farm in Punjab, Pakistan, when her co-workers accused the Christian woman of blasphemy and insulting the Prophet Muhammad following an argument over water.
The mother-of-five was arrested, convicted of blasphemy in 2010 and later handed the death penalty for a crime her family and lawyers say is largely based on hearsay.
But despite her claims of innocence, a court in Lahore upheld the verdict that Mrs Bibi be hanged.
