Back then, gifting a lady a Hoover was a welcomed gift because it made her life easier and she would consequently have more time for her family and herself. Nowadays, gifting a Hoover or a similar household appliance would not only result in loss of the said appliance (if it isn't wrapped around the man's neck), but also result in the loss of his house, his kids etc!
