Simple economics though. No gender bais.
It's all business. More viewers and spectators (male and female) watch the men's tennis competition than the women's competition. Hence demand for sponsorship is higher and more expensive and then increase in prize money to encourage better and better players to perpetually increase profits.
Escorting, all based on supply and demand.
I've got no problem with men and women being paid the same if their qualifications, experience, length of service to company and work output was the same when doing the same job.
I would assume that male and female bus drivers have the same pay and conditions.

I'm pretty sure that is actually illegal in Australia and other developed countries... if you honestly mean doing the same job for the same number of hours. Again, I completely agree there should no daylight between remuneration of people doing the same work.

My gripe is that when people bemoan the so-called gender pay gap what they actually are doing is conveniently forgetting that women are over-represented in lower-paid occupations (and part-time employment) and under-represented in higher paid full-time jobs, therefore their average earnings are obviously going to be lower than for men. While part of it is likely due to direct or indirect discrimination in some male top-heavy organisations, much of it is due to men and women IN GENERAL having different interests, strengths and priorities (at different stages of their lives and careers).

Anyway, I don't think Zeus envisaged an industrial dispute when he started this thread, so...
