Just received my results. Did the syphilis/clap/gonorrhea/HIV1&2/hepB&C tests and they all came back negative.

The bump it still there and has just grown slightly but there’s no open sore or high/pronounced rim or edge, so it makes sense it’s not a syphilis chancre. It’s painless and is almost 1cm in diameter with no whitehead. No idea what it could be, might have to see a gp if it doesn’t go away in a week or two.

I’ll get tested again at the 3 month mark to make sure everything’s clear, but the 4-week test should be reliable.

I’ve been punting for over 10 years and it’s always safe except for you are silly’s, and this lapse in judgement has caused many sleepless nights. Never again.

Possibly just a cyst. Go to the docs. Probably best to get it removed now before it gets too big and scars too much.

Worthwhile time to remind o/s travellers.. Heres some figs for Bali..

Bali 2010 report: In 2010, 25.9 percent of Bali’s 3,945 sex workers - those working in brothels or on the streets mostly in the inner-island town centre known as Denpasar - were living with HIV, up from 1.6 percent in 2000, according to the provincial health department. A 2015 report puts the Bali figure much higher for sex workers with HIV (75%).
2002 data for Thailand... Over 60% of low class prostitutes in Thailand are HIV positive after working for one year

While I advocate for safe sex and agree anyone could be a potential HIV carrier I am not sure where you got your figures for Thailand from as they seem very high.

This from the unaids.com website from 2023

"In Thailand, as in the rest of Asia, these groups carry the heaviest HIV burden. Nationally HIV prevalence is 1% for sex workers, 8% for people who use drugs, 11% for transgender women and 12% for men who have sex with men"

Either way it not worth the risks of unsafe sex wherever you are.

So, false alarm and everyone is fine. Good news.
Obviously you have missed the point.

Of course it is not a false alarm and all good.

If you cop one sex worker who is HIV positive anywhere and have unprotected sex then that is risky.

To quote that 60% of sex workers in Thailand are HIV positive is false that's all.

There are an estimated 80,000-1,000,000 prostitutes in Thailand. Each may have sexual intercourse with up to twenty clients per day. Their clients include international tourists as well as local Thai men. At least 450,000 Thai men visit prostitutes daily, with at least 75% of Thai men having had paid sex at least once. One researcher found that 72% of the low-class prostitutes were HIV-seropositive, while another examination of a few brothels found all prostitutes to be infected. 50% of Thai men reported in a 1990 study that they never use a condom, 26% had multiple sex partners in the preceding six months, and 86% believed that there is only a small chance of contracting AIDS. This high prevalence of HIV infection among prostitutes, frequent sexual intercourse, and lack of condom use in Thailand is ideal for the continued spread of HIV throughout the population.

Thats earlier than the 2002 date but a similar trend. The 2002 report i saw wont load right now . Its why there has been a push for condom use by the Thai health agencies

Thanks for this. Cancelled Bali trip.

Go see a GP now while there is still something for him to see. Some diseases become silent with no symptoms leading to a false sense of security that it has passed.

I was talking about the punter who was concerned he had an STI, but then was thankfully all clear. Not the overseas health statistics discussion that has started.

If those numbers are accurate, thats terrifying. Given the number of sex tourists through those locations, you would expect infections to spread incredibly rapidly even over here
