Evening All...

On NYE, Susan Devereaux, a very well known Perth Madam passed away after a 2 year fight with Cancer. She was a very strong, thoughtful and determined lady who helped shape the industry into what it is today.

There are so many people she has helped, taught and argued with throughout the years, but regardless what the other's within the industries' relationships with her were, she was respected by all.

She will be greatly missed...

Thank you so much to those of you who showed your respects at her funeral, it was appreciated by all her family.

Poor Mandy she will be writing forever.A day in Sue's Life was often more than some would experience in a year.
Her greatest claim to fame was to sell her agency to a cocky 28 yo Kiwi in the days when the escort agency was outside the containment system.Little did that cocky kiwi how much she had bitten off....but that is one long story....which a lot is told in the scarlett mile, a book written about the industry in Kalgoorlie ovet the last 100 years.

Better Late Than Never!

Ok all, I know it's late, and it's only going to be breif, because like Mary-Anne said, Sue had an incredible life, which was eventful before she entered the sex industry.

Also, bare in mind, the dates I'll be using are approximates only! I'm going back through alot of memory to put this together, none of this information has been recoreded anywhere before now.

Sue first entered the sex industry in 1982. She started off as a private escort. She took this work to support her daughters and make sure they had the best of everything. A friend of hers suggested it to her over a few drinks one night.

I think it was about a year or two later, she decided she could take bookings for other girls and organise their work for them. She had 3 normal telephones setup in one room of the house which she answered on her own every night.

I'm not sure how long this went on for, but it was doing really well for her, she registered her first few trading names and went into business properly. Her first registered trading names were Hot Peppers, Stardust and the famous Penthouse Playmates.

She plodded along with business for a few years, operating outside of the containment policy. She has worked with many of todays most well know people within the Industry, such as Mary-Anne.

The agency she built up was bigger than anything out there, the numbers she was doing back then out do the numbers of the established business's around today, it was phenomenal, she was an excellent business woman.

Since she was operating outside of the law she didn't understand why she should pay tax. She wasn't a recognised business and was regularily being 'raided' by the police. She refused to pay her taxes and ended up getting 5 years prison time for defrauding the commonwealth of $1.3 Million dollars. She was also charged at the same time for Arson, the burning down of Mary-Annes agency in Midland.

After she finished her time, she came out and got involved with another agency, Ruby's. Ruby's is run by her youngest daughter and is currently by far the largest Escort Agency in Perth.

Over the years Sue trained and helped many people from many parts of life. She was an amazing woman.

I know this is very short, but it's quite difficult to write this. There is so much to her life which is only known by people very close to her, I know she would like it to stay that way.

Well written Mandy and i think important.Hopefully others will record their stories so your mum's history can be kept.
Sue was by far the best escort business woman and i learnt most of what I know from either copying what she did well and also learnt most of the pitfalls from your mum as well by the few things that she let override her at times.
i know i use the oxymoron word a lot and when you first hear it it conjures up a different meaning, but sue was truly this , the most generous person I know, but every now and then she let this override her and would try to have things both ways.
Hope this makes sense and over time will write some stories of our days and games together, we were friends and foes, had some ups and downs, but trust me they were never boring.

I worked for Sue for 10 yrs I have to say she is the only person I had pull me up when I was going ova the top with drugs I can neva forget the night she grabbed hold of shoulder told me straight YOU LOOK LIKE FUKN **** GO HOME GET SOME SLEEP DONT COME BACK TILL YOU SORT YOURSELF OUT at the time they were the words I needed to hear we had plenty of arguements but some of the best times like the old days when the sailors would come in are the best memories I have.I have to say if I knew Sue was pissed at me she is 1 woman I was scared of.... I sorry to hear of her passing and I wish all her family the very best

This thread was a blast from the past....... Worked with Sue (Linda) and Mandy and I remember the lovely Zandalee as well...... She was a very interesting lady..... for someone very green like i was back then.... she was like no one i had ever meet.... crazy stories from those days :cool:
