Up front, I'm anti violence. Also this talks about aggression (which may or may not be violence), BDSM comes to mind, but that is first of all consensual and hopefully safe.

After interviewing over 300 regular pornography viewers in a study published in Archives of Sexual Behavior, Professor Eran Shor found that while most viewers were not interested in watching sexual aggression in pornography, women were more likely than men to say that they enjoyed aggression in the pornography they watch, including harder forms, such as choking. Female viewers were also more likely to report enjoying when female performers expressed pain in response to aggression and were more likely to actively search for aggressive pornography.

I only read the synopsis but what jumped out was "regular porn viewers" as it is a known fact that the me we watch the more desensitized we get.. if you got a mix of porn vs non porn watchers then the stats would be very different...

Yup, good point Jeb, and note that most men AND women don't like aggression - hardly any (men and women) like non-consensual aggression, even among regular porn viewers. So don't kid yourself about rape myths. Punter: 'Why officer. The latest research shows most women love being pushed around'. Cop: Tell that to the judge!

That's really interesting, Joe Ozzie. I did a google on it but didn't come up with much extra. I'll put what I did find below, in case anyone else is interested and it saves them some time.

Joe Ozzie's link is a publicity summary. It is based on the one done by McGill university, which is here:
link not working so taken down

The study itself is by Eran Shor and was published in the Archives of Sexual Behaviour but you have to pay to read it:

It is also included in his book (with his PhD student Kimberly Seida) Aggression in Pornography: Myths and Realities which was published by Routledge last year.

The survey questions he put to people are set out here:

Shor (and his researchers) interviewed 122 regular pornography viewers (61 women, 60 men, and 1 gender-diverse). The people they interviewed were from Bangladesh, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Costa Rica, France, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Korea, Lebanon, Mauritius, Mexico, Pakistan, Peru, Romania, Russia, Singapore, Slovenia, Sri Lanka, Syria, the United Kingdom, the United States, Venezuela, Vietnam, and Zimbabwe. But about half of them were Canadian (the study was done by Eran Shor of McGill University in Canada).

There is a review of the book (Aggression in Pornography) here, but you have to pay to read it too:

Female viewers were more likely than male viewers to say that they enjoyed aggression in the pornography that they watch.
