When did the world change for a child to be able to hold a severed head at seven-year-old or any age....

I just don't understand why the world is changing so much ....
It is very sad and lets hope with some of the new tech knowledge and the knowledge that we have learnt from the past may change the way we are heading !!!!!!!

There is no definitive answer. Yet some say that the new found freedom of most first world countries and the availability of information at our fingertips has far outweighed responsibility and duties to humanity.

It is better than being ruled by an iron fist.........yet balance has been disrupted.

Is it changing though?

Less than 100 years ago... Germany nearly obliterated an entire race of people. 2000 years ago our major icon of Christianity was gruesomely crucified.... We've been like this a very long time... It's just with the explosion of access to more media that our exposure to it has increased significantly.

It's always a constant reminder that people can be really awful :-(

True....yet a few thousand years are just a single grain in the sands of time when it comes to true human history.

And yes..........we still prop people up just to cut them down when they are doing well. And then we miss them and say nice things about them after they are gone.

When I was about 7 my parents kept me from seeing any kind of nudity or affection on TV or at the movies. My mother even believed that showing affection to the boys in the family would make them soft so no hugs for me. Other boys in my neighbourhood were treated similarly.

Yet they took me to see The Godfather when it was out, and I remember being really upset by the violence but dad just thought it was fun.

This was the attitude of adults all around me.. violence is good, love is bad. Has anything really changed?

My parents freaked out when I met my first girl friend when I was 12, they'd heard we'd been kissing OMG!! NO!! They called her a little tramp. What wonderful role models they were. The cycle of stupidity had to be broken!

Yet Dad sent me off for boxing lessons to learn how to defend myself against the daily violence at school from bullies although much of it was from teachers with canes. Even my first job was as a professional solider in the Australian Army - yup even the Government wanted me to kill people. Darn it, I wanted kissing lessons and to become a male Escort! - but nope, society had taught me that violence is good, love is bad.

Ok, this is good................................................ but this is bad.

Walk down the street on a Saturday night if your a single male, you have at least some chance of getting bashed, abused or glassed but there's a 100% chance that nobody will offer you a hug.

So when I look at these images that Sue posted, it all makes sense to me.

I'll leave you with an image so shocking.. that even my parents never wanted me to see it....

Absolutely........I have noticed for a long time that in the modern world the media accepts hate and violence being shown to children, but acts of love are not.

Yet people say never to question those in charge.

I agree Yoda, I'm not suggesting going over board with what is presented to kids because that in itself would be abuse, but at the moment I believe societies all over the world are out of balance

Look at the newest generation. They have more hours of media exposure than sleep. Healthy activities are minimized if not eliminated from their lives.

Is it not obvious enough that there is more hate/selfishness in the world and a lot less love/kindness.

And the 3rd World War is Not too Far..........................
Oh don't say that Jax!! Yes you're right Miss Sue-what the hell is up with the world?? I usually read the news online everyday and am most times left shocked at what people are doing to one another!! I don't get it-Is it getting worse? I think pjmc made a good point-with the internet etc we are far more aware of everything that goes on in the world-so maybe it just seems like it is getting worse-things need to change that's for sure!

What has changed?????? Nothing. Since the very beginning humans have killed and tortured and slaughtered each other. Modern technology only makes it possible that we can do it in far more sophisticated and cruel ways........what a variety of ways to be nasty in modern times and modern media makes sure that the whole world knows about it while 500 years ago news of cruelty travelled a lot slower and most likely not more than 50 km away from the crime scene.
Nothing has changed! We have always bee like that.

............and the sad part about it is that we will always be like that.

Ok I was discussing this last night with Ms Sue as I was sick at seeing a 7yr old with a severed head.
Where does the world stand today....
30% of the globe is in armed conflict as of now
60% is in civil disarray
75% is in financial debt way exceeding interest payments made which will lead to anarchy or conflict
30% of the globe is arguing disputed territories
80% of countries have chemical drug problems

Don't worry as there are Nuclear Arms agreements (hahaha), no country would use them anyway as they make the land and resources unusable. Chemical Weapons are best used and it can target specifics and leave infrastructure intact.
Do we need a Global culling?
My answer is yes!
Plants need pruning so does the animal kingdom of which Humans are part.
The Bible says "The meek shall inherit the Earth" so true all you end up with is a shallow grave.
No more Mr Nice Guy when it comes to these so called religious fighters (ANY RELIGION) as it a piss poor excuse for butchering your fellow man, but sadly we do need to cull Billions if Humanity is to be repaired, but who is to be culled?
Stop trying to put drug dealers in prison...prison the user. Starve the dealers income and it will wither and die.

Over my life I have seen horrific scenes but seeing a 7yr old with a head in hands just floors me.

I can't say anymore even though I have got more to tell
