By staying present to those thoughts and feelings and accepting these thoughts and feelings. Let them be and let them pass.
Trying to avoid or escape them will just have them resist getting out of your existence.
and if the thoughts are about wanting to contact someone you know you probably shouldnt contact.. and would be better not doing so?

The situation in question left me very low.. lower than ive ever been.. but because of distance and time.. i was starting to find my way back and find myself again..
However the person in question is now back and making contact.. wanting to at least be friends.. but my feelings for her have not changed..so i asked for some space to heal..
She thinks i dont need it and is finding it hard to stop contacting me.. she says she needs me.. needs to see me.. so it has me thinking about her again and the 'what ifs' ...
