Just came across this report on ninemsn. :/

Link is broken,so has been taken down

"Australian internet users are being urged to check whether their computers have been infected by a virus which could see them lose access to the internet on Monday. International security agencies including the FBI have been running a campaign to warn people about the virus since Estonian hackers infected about 570,000 computers worldwide last year.

The scam saw victims' internet access re-routed via the hackers' own servers to "show them an altered version of the internet".

Is this a hoax or should we be worried? I'm no techno nerd by any means, and I'm sure alot out there aren't either", but this seems a bit concerning, considering the amount of porn sites we access ;) and probably without the proper protection.

Anyone more clued up on viruses want to fill us in?

It's just a bit of malware that modifies your DNS settings...
Nothing 'worse' than any other nasty you can get on the Internet.

Download and run something like Spybot to make sure you're not affected and you should be fine :)

Edit: I just read that particular article, at the bottom they provide a link with instructions to make sure it isn't going to affect you.

Who knew Estonia had computers, or electricity[/QUOTE

Behold King Solomon of Israel -the wisest of all men, knew F all compared to Farm Boy's mouse.

The United Nations classifies Estonia as a developed country with a very high Human Development Index.[5] The country is also ranked highly for press freedom, economic freedom, political freedom and education.

It might be as serious as the Y2K bug that we were all told was going to bring the world to a grinding halt!

Y2K. That was brilliant On the 1st of Jan Looking out for all the people who had us living back in the stone age
But many of them just could not be found Dont know if they were locked up in a totally electronic free shanty
Miles from modernity and did not know there was no Y2K until June

if your pc has a virus turn it off...reformat , reinstall, bob's your uncle. If not, take out your iSpat, or other tablet, walk down to your nearest Mackers, utilise the wifi and bob's your uncle again, you are back on the net. You just need to make it happen. Or give yourself a day off from the internet, you won't suffer from withdrawal symptoms...lol

My computer never goes out without its trusty Kaspersky "condom" on. It has warned me off quite a few dodgy sites.
