Convicted paedophile Dennis Ferguson has been run out of four communities in Queensland and New South Wales since being released from jail in 2003. In the past couple of weeks resident protests have forced him into hiding and the New South Wales government has resorted to changing the law to evict him to appease angry locals.

Is this a win for vigilantism or a fall-back to mob rule??

For what my 2c is worth......Paedophiles should face the same fate as those 2 idiot drug traffickers faced in Indonesia.

Not for paedophiles, sure, but here's an idea who's time is well overdue:
South African Dr. Sonnet Ehlers was on call one night four decades ago when a devastated rape victim walked in. Her eyes were lifeless; she was like a breathing corpse.
"She looked at me and said, 'If only I had teeth down there,'" recalled Ehlers, who was a 20-year-old medical researcher at the time. "I promised her I'd do something to help people like her one day."
Forty years later, Rape-aXe was born.
Ehlers is distributing the female condoms in the various South African cities where the World Cup soccer games are taking place.
The woman inserts the latex condom like a tampon. Jagged rows of teeth-like hooks line its inside and attach on a man's penis during penetration, Ehlers said.
Once it lodges, only a doctor can remove it -- a procedure Ehlers hopes will be done with authorities on standby to make an arrest.
"It hurts, he cannot pee and walk when it's on," she said. "If he tries to remove it, it will clasp even tighter... however, it doesn't break the skin, and there's no danger of fluid exposure."

Pedophilia is the sexual attraction to children. It is important to remember that not all pedophiles act on their urges.

I think those who give in to their innate desire and bring harm as as a result should absolutely be held accountable. But what about the ones who don't? What about the people that feel these impulses, and are making an active decision NOT to give in to their temptation?

I don't think that we should be shaming people for their sexual preferences. It's hard for people to grasp, but at the end of the day, that is exactly what Pedophilia is.

Absolutely this!

I am a very strong believer in providing support to non-offended pedophiles. Especially young people who come to this realisation. Currently there is no official support network for young people who realise that they are attracted to children. I can only imagine how alienating and AWFUL it must be for them to go through it alone or only with an underground network of support.

I also very much believe we should attempt to rehabilitate all who commit crimes. Obviously this isn't possible in all cases, but our current system of punishment and retribution obviously isn't working!

But back the pedophiles... I'm sure there are many WL's on these forums who have encountered men who wanted to role play with them to live out this attraction and understand that it's a necessary service. A safe and supportive environment to play out their urges with a consenting adult is a key aspect to preventing the abuse of children.

Ziggy Pop - Just to set the record straight -

  1. Paedophilia is a psychiatric disorder in which an adult or older adolescent experiences a primary or exclusive sexual attraction to prepubescent children, generally age 11 years or younger.
  2. If you would have taken the trouble to actually read what I had written, you would have realised that I was talking about a convicted paedophile. In other words he has already been found guilty of having sexual intercourse or he has already sexually molested a young child.
  3. In fact, Dennis Ferguson was convicted of child sexual abuse after he kidnapped and sexually abused three children.
I have said it before, and I will say it again, it is my opinion that there isn't place in society for such people and the quicker they are disposed of, the better.

If a person hasn't committed a crime and is seeking "help" for their twisted sick urges - that's fine.
But once they actually commit a crime, they must face the consequences

Lyla Rose - you state that.....our current system of punishment and retribution obviously isn't working!

Are you serious or do you just write stuff without thinking?? Maybe the very first thing that comes into your head??

Please do enlighten us - if people who have committed crimes should not be punished, (a convicted paedophile in this case), how would you suggest we deal with such matters?

I await your response with eager anticipation.

I've done a bit of research on Rape Axe and the original RapeX and i'm still undecided if its a good or bad thing. It doesn't prevent rape (the victim is penetrated for it to work) but i can't help but feel it'd make a very uncivilised bloke very angry.

Zues, friends of mine had a pedo released in to their smallish town and within a day or 2 it nearly turned into a war zone. Police had to lock him in the station. It made the news and all sorts. There is simply no place on the earth for these scumbags. It's been repeatedly proven our judicial system is too lenient.
