There are many birds living on my farm

F

Farm Boy

Just thought my TSF friends ought to know there are many types of birds living on my farm ie

Crows cunning cruel birds fly well have there own language and always look after number one .

The magnificent Wedge Tail Eagle is often in the sky he also knows a thing or two , kills his own tucker or scrounges up some carrion its all the same to him,

Black Swans West Australians symbol some times fly over head on there way to the lakes nearby

There are Two Little Hawks living in my shed they do OK always kill there own never scrounge Carrion

Then there are The Maggie fairly useless bird really , always warbling on about something ( they think there good looking ) making a pest on them self chasing kids and the only thing they can catch, are worms clumsy flyers and carrion eaters too F*** if I know why footy teams are named MAGPIES ?

William Butler Yeats was HAPPY TO PEN THIS

The Wild Swans At Coole

THE trees are in their autumn beauty,
The woodland paths are dry,
Under the October twilight the water
Mirrors a still sky;
Upon the brimming water among the stones
Are nine-and-fifty Swans.
The nineteenth autumn has come upon me
Since I first made my count;
I saw, before I had well finished,
All suddenly mount
And scatter wheeling in great broken rings
Upon their clamorous wings.
I have looked upon those brilliant creatures,
And now my heart is sore.
All's changed since I, hearing at twilight,
The first time on this shore,
The bell-beat of their wings above my head,
Trod with a lighter tread.
Unwearied still, lover by lover,
They paddle in the cold
Companionable streams or climb the air;
Their hearts have not grown old;
Passion or conquest, wander where they will,
Attend upon them still.
But now they drift on the still water,
Mysterious, beautiful;
Among what rushes will they build,
By what lake's edge or pool
Delight men's eyes when I awake some day
To find they have flown away?

He is right Swans have the lot Beauty power size and grace , there magnificence .

I must say I have a soft spot for Magpies.

They usually hang around our area in family groups and the warbling is actually a territorial call which gathers the clan and tells other groups to stay away. One of our neighbours feeds them and they soon learn when the tucker is served. Watch them when you approach a group. They will watch you and as long as you keep moving they will let you walk almost over them but the minute you stop they are on their guard and ready to fly.

Life in suburbia would be poorer without them and our other feathered visitors so enjoy them and keep your cat in at night.

I would certainly prefer a tiding of Magpies (Though there are names for a group of magpies) than a murder of crows To wake me with there morning chorus

Svengali inferred that Magpies were Tribal and suburban , just what I thought .

The wild swan's death-hymn took the soul
Of that waste place with joy
Hidden in sorrow: at first to the ear
The warble was low, and full and clear; ...
But anon her awful jubilant voice,
With a music strange and manifold,
Flow’d forth on a carol free and bold;
As when a mighty people rejoice
With shawms, and with cymbals, and harps of gold...
