The curse of Migraines

I have unfortunately been cursed (& I truly believe it is a curse) with suffering(especially when under stress) with migraines....

Migraine headache is a recognised medical condition. The pain is severe and throbbing, and usually on one side of the head. Symptoms include nausea and vomiting, sensitivity to light and sound, affected vision including seeing ‘auras’, and sensitivity to smell and touch.

There is no cure, but treatment may include medication and other therapies.

For me (as migraine triggers differ from sufferer to sufferer) I can recongnise one coming up ... Normally when I get worried that I need to accomplish some work & I feel I may not have time to complete it...I can at that point try taking magnesium as a drink - if I dont want to start on my pills...the codeine is paramount to easing my pain...

Does any one else in this forum suffer from this debilitating affliction?

I know when I am in the thrones of pain, I always think to myself dying must be easier!!
I am rather dramatic - but that does lessen the anguish of migraines!

Oh yes, migraines are really awful! It happens to me every once in a while when I have too much one my mind up to the point where I literally have to throw up. Drinking enough water or taking medicine won't help any more. The only thing that works for me is lying down and trying to sleep. XXX

DD and Brontee it sounds horrific and debilitating what you are going through - I sometimes treat a very early migraine with three Aspalgin (Aspirin and codeine) and a Metoclopromide (Maxalon 10mg) - it has a high success rate but you need to get a script for the Maxalon. Laying down and resting in a cool dark environment after this medication will often bring on sleep and when you wake the pain should have abated. Works for me and pain goes in 5-10 minutes (that's enough time for pain I reckon).

I haven't had a migraine for years now. I had a spate of them some years ago . I ended up having a brain scan. The doctor wanted to check out if there was a tumor on the pituitary gland pressing on the optic nerve, because I used to loose my vision. Sometimes with pain other times not. Then they just stopped one day...lucky me.
When I was bad I would always make sure I took plenty of fluids, plenty of pain killers and BREATHE myself into a meditation state. Nothing much else I know to do, except to empathise.
If you get them a lot I would definitely get it checked out professionally....just to be sure.
Take care of you. xx

Maybe see a Chinese doctor if this happen for a long time already. They are good with that sort of thing.

I have definitely thought about that ..
This morning my housemate said, you ought to see a doctor about your migraines - they are getting too often these days ...

Actually it's just that these days I have made myself more available
- before I could hide my migraines behind close doors ...
Nowadays it's harder to hide as my family & friends know my schedules very well so I am always found out if I have a migraine ...

Luckily i am one of those who don't suffer migraines. I guess I get once in a long while (usually when I am confronted with the very heavy humid sometimes continental summer climate in Germany's south) a light taste of it......strong headache, blurred vision, funny stomach......but that's about it.
Apparently the medical people worked out that botox helps migraine sufferers. Ever tried it out?

You may want to pay attention to the foods you're eating. I know this may sound silly, but sugar and wheat/gluten do cause a lot illnesses. Try a High Fat Low Carb diet and stop eating sugar and wheat for a few weeks and see how it goes.

Yes unfortunately I do suffer from migraines. Usually in summer. There isn't much I can do once I get one. I just curl up in a very quiet, dark room and try not to move much just sleep it off lol luckily they are not often :)

Apparently these devices help also. No medication, they just send pulses that help prevent them
Yeah, I've heard this too, and maybe it works for some. When I have migraines I have a very small window of opportunity to try and medicate it (about 15 - 20 minutes from when I first get an inkling that one may be on its way), otherwise I just have to strap myself in for the ride for as long as it lasts. I'd missed the window of opportinity when I tried the peppermint oil and the smell of it just made me puke. And for those of us who get migraines you will no doubt know exactly what it feels like to vomit while in the middle of one.... Yecch.

Louise Hay (the woman that wrote "You Can Heal Your Life" recommends wanking as a preventative measure when you feel a migraine coming on...To be honest, I've not tried it...But now I'm reading this before hitting the post button, I'm really wishing that the end of this story was "It didn't get rid of my migraine AND they threw me out of the airport"...

On Mothers Day this year, I received a BIOFLOW Bracelet.....since then I have not had a migraine (touch wood!)

About Bioflow

The Bioflow brand was created in 1995 and Bioflow has since grown into one of the world’s leading suppliers of magnetic wrist products. From the beginning, the company ethos has been to provide the best magnotherapy products available and support these products with consistently high customer service levels.

A strange twist actually led to the creation of Bioflow when engineer Nigel Broderick who originally owned Ecoflow the company who produced Magnets for vehicles and industry to reduce emissions His study into inventions during the second world war found that the boffins had managed to get an approximate 5% more power from engines by ionising the fuel with the use of magnets. At that time acid rain was causing havoc to the northern Hemisphere environment. To counter this Nigel formed Ecoflow and set about marketing Ecoflow. A side benefit was better fuel consumption. Ecoflow was tested by the British Department of Transport and the matter was debated in Parliament and is recorded in Hansard. While fitting these magnets to cars and boilers and having the magnets on their person distributors noticed that pain they were suffering would go away. It is from this that observation that Nigel invented the Bioflow bracelet for people. It worked so well on people Nigel went on the make products for dogs, Cat and horses.

This same dedication for excellence continues with our new Bioflow Sport silicone wristbands, which are available from Bioflow Magnotherapy Australia.

Much of Bioflow’s success is based on the company’s understanding of magnet technology combined with a commitment to continuous product innovation and development.

To date, over a million people worldwide have made the decision to try our products and we now have thousands of testimonials and many Affidavits from customers whose lives have been changed by Bioflow Magnotherapy.

Our Technology
About Magnotherapy

  • The powerful field of the magnet is thought to improve circulation, ensuring that a greater number of oxygen-carrying red cells and healing white cells of our immune system reach every part of the body. As a result this reduces pain and swelling, increases the supply of nutrients to the affected area and in turn helps the body heal.
  • Any form of therapy that improves circulation and helps the blood detoxify is of huge benefit in the anti-inflammatory and healing process.
  • Magnotherapy has been used for centuries by humans and animals to aid healing, alleviate pain, improve circulation and help with many other conditions including arthritis, sports injuries, poor circulation, high blood pressure, skin complaints, fatigue syndrome and general aches and pains. It is reported that Cleopatra wore a small magnet on her forehead to preserve her beauty and youthfulness!

Central Reverse Polarity® - our unique technology

  • Our magnets use a strong, multi-directional force of magnetism called ‘Central Reverse Polarity®’ also referred to as ‘CRP®’, to mimic the expensive professional equipment used by physiotherapists. Molecules that exit a CRP® field are more efficient than those produced by standard magnets.

CRP_NS_diagram_11.jpg

  • This CRP® technology is patented to us and no similar method exists.
  • Our magnetic products are produced using the highest quality neodymium magnets - the strongest type of permanent magnet known.
  • Bioflow® products are also credited as a Class 1 medical device.

All I can testify to is that since I have been wearing my gold bracelet (It is pretty as well as functional!) I really have not had a terrible migraine...
I know it works differently for each individual.... and may not work on some.....but for me, I am swearing by it....

Another friend who is a builder who had a sore shoulder & after 2 operations he still suffered pain but tried this BIOFLOW bracelet (in his EAGLE colours -oh please!!) and it works.... he can lift his arm again with pain....
And the sport bracelets are only $75.00 so it is not too big an investment to ease your pain & make your life better!
