In some aspects it is a gateway to the dark web so personally I'd steer clear of it in my opinion.
The IT staff should be more informed regarding those applications.

I can say this..I know one escort (privat) escort service in Europe that has 2-3 times more ladies than you are running here, and they do that using one whatsapp number, not multiple sms numbers like you are operating, or any other contact method, its all done via Whatsapp. keep it simple, lower your overheads.
All the freedom of speech and anti vaxx use it. Plus it became the new silk road. If you don't want censorship then highly recommend Telegram
Telegram is mainly for direct messaging and group messaging. There isnt a way to seperate groups or create spaces for discussion. It would just be a bunch of people talking at the same time
Go for a walk into 370 South Street, behind the Bike Shop and see all the mobiles they have. same as Hanys on Day Road, they use whatsapp/sms nothing more nothing less.. simple as. remove all the overheads you don't need like all those SMS modems which back in the day were wonderful.. however Tech has moved on..
