It’s up to the retailer as to whether they charge a fee but it is not allowed to be larger than the actual fees incurred for the paywave/eftpos facility by the retailer. Most will not charge as customers will vote with their feet. Unfortunately airport is captive customers

I guess its up to the business on wether just to eat the cost of the fee from the bank or pass it onto the customer. Most places choose to just bear the cost which is great, because I love paying for things with just my watch / phone.

Visa and MasterCard charge a higher fee to the businesses than EFTPOS does. Aldi charges a fee for Paywave and if you press credit when you put your card in, but they don't charge fee if you put your Visa or MasterCard debit card in and press Savings as you are then using the EFTPOS network instead of the Visa or MasterCard networks.

It makes no sense to me.
