Recently I saw a news article about the app that I have been using for about 5 years called WAZE. Available at the app store and google plat for free. Apart from being a reliable GPS guiding system that tells you how fast you are ACTUALLY going. It also alerts you of traffic jams, constructions, breakdowns, crashes, objects on the road, and even roadkills. Most important of all it tell you where cops and speed cameras are.

How does it do that?

It is a community based app and drivers report these things when they see them with the touch of a button.

Cops obviously hate this as it dramatically reduces their revenue raising. The loophole they use to discourage people from using this app is that drivers cannot touch their phones while driving so they can't report things.

But here is a loophole for drivers... If you have Apple Car Play or Android Auto then it is not illegal to use this app while driving.

Over 5 years this has got better and better. Because more and more people are using it. Millions use this now and it saves me 99 out of 100 times. And with the article below from the police commissioner bringing even more attention to it, it has just got more powerful again.

Download it and try it out. You won't go back :)

Happy motoring...

@Master Yoda are you happy with the app? Number of problems reported in the reviews...?...like slow loading after route changes, GPS dropping out...etc..
I never read any reviews, it has been reliable for me on multiple devices. I still use it on every drive. Try it out, it’s free. Can delete if you don’t like it :)

It’s an awesome app, thanks for sharing. And just out of interest there’s one catered to public transport users called Moovit.

The Waze founder, Uri Levine, spoke in Perth a few years back and it was so damn inspiring to see. Fascinating startup success story.

Could just not drive faster than the speed limit
Today is a fine example. Camera set up just after passing lanes end, or a 80 zone that turns into an 60 zone that goes down hill etc...

Does anyone have opinions about these speed camera locations?

And the waze app saves my ass on many occasions in these situations. In general it just makes me aware and not to speed.

I used it years ago but deleted it as it wanted GPS on all the time, not just while using app. Has this changed?
