Confidence seems like you either have it or you don't.
Some people just ooze self confidence...the way they dress, their posture, the way they talk a carefree attitude or a don't mess with me kind of strength. I find it's very sexy in both men and women. It's hard to believe anyone with that much confidence would be lousey in bed.
Where does your confidence or lack of confidence come from?

I have lacked self-confidence for most of my life, probably since the teens, but no idea why. Always had a loving family, did well at school, OK at uni, got a job eventually (after PM Keating's double-digit unemployment) and haven't been out of work since -- so don't really have a good reason not to be self-confident. Not so lucky in love though.

You cover it well . I understand all to well that not giving a damn can be misconstrued as apathy....but you can also look at it as a source of great power.
XLNC you are awesome, smart and witty and you just need your spark to be reignited. Don't sell yourself short.
Grumpy comes with age and the fact you don't suffer fools gladly....you maybe a little arrogant and pomposturous at times .....isn't that an expression of confidence.
PS....I bet you are great in the bedroom!!

I found this answer - which I think is pretty good.

Self-confidence is a habit, not an attitude. You become self-confident by trying things and discovering that you can do them. And that the more you do them, the better you get.

To build self-confidence, you need to learn three things:

1. Failure won't kill you (unless you've taken on sky-diving).
2. Succeeding feels great!
3. You get better with practice.

Jump off the high board before you try to dive.

• Smile and say "Good morning" to the receptionist, before you try to chat up the "10" in the cubicle near you.
• Cook a decent hamburger before you try a seven-course meal.

Don't expect perfection. That comes with practice. Work on competence. When I was learning to fly, I'd invariably make some sort of mistake in my approach to a landing, and have to make some kind of correction to get into the proper groove. When my instructor set me free to solo the plane, he said, "The one thing I'm not worried about is your getting in trouble on a bad approach and not being able to correct to make a good landing. You've never made a good approach. That day all my approaches were perfect. Practice.

Don't worry about embarrassing yourself. Most people will give you credit for trying. And the others don't count.

Build on the strength you are gaining.

I used to have heaps of confidence, but i was much younger then and loved the attention. I was a true extrovert for sure. But i feel since i have gotten older, i tend to sus people out before i can truly be myself, but once im comfortable, look out.

I find that I am alot more confident at work then I am outside of work.

I guess all those compliments really do go to my head

However outside of work it is very hard to make eye contact with anyone let alone hold a proper conversation.
