Sex without an Erection

Hi all,
My first post on these pages.
I few years ago I had a radical prostatectomy as a result of prostate cancer. Prior to this I had an active sex life.
Now I am unable to get an erection despite my surgeon telling me that my ability to do so would return within a year to eighteen months.
I'm still horny but just don't know how to get off without an erection...due to the occasional bit of pee that comes out, oral sex is not on the list for my wife. Because of this, my current sex life is non existent...is there any way I can bring myself to a climax either by solo masturbation or some way with my wife. Trying to rub a soft penis by hand is just impossible...
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

Can I Have An Orgasm Without An Erection?
Yes. An erection is not necessary for orgasm or ejaculation. Even if a man cannot have an erection or can only get or keep a partial erection, with the right sexual stimulation you can experience an orgasm. Your orgasm has little to do with your prostate gland. As long as you have normal skin sensation, you can have an orgasm.

Time for another visit to the urlogist, or, possibly, to a different one. Failing that, if all is well on the physical side you may need to see a phychologist specialising in this area

This problem usually does occur post-op but usually resolves itself within a couple of months to a year.

Have you tried Viagra & similar options? If so & not really working, you can try the needle. This involves injecting directly into the side of the penis either at the 10 or 2 o'clock area. The penis should start to swell within 10 to 15 minutes & an erection can last anywhere from 40 to maybe 60 odd minutes depending on dosage. You will of course have to see a specialist but your surgeon can refer you. By the way 90% of men who had had prostate cancer suffer from impotence it is a sad fact.

This type of surgery affects the nerves in the area which in turn causes penile dysfunction. Was the operation a nerve sparing operation?

Erections do, however, take quite a long time to recover and generally take 12 to 18 months to return, but may even take up to three years.

Options include pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic interventions. Pharmacotherapies include the oral PDE-5 inhibitors (Viagra, Cialis and Levitra), intraurethral suppositories, and intracavernous injections (prostaglandin E1and vasoactive drug mixtures).

Non-pharmacologic therapies, which do not rely on the biochemical reactivity of the erectile tissue, include vacuum constriction devices and penile implants (prostheses).

Men who have undergone nerve-sparing technique should be offered therapies that are not expected to interfere with the potential recovery of spontaneous, natural erectile function.

Sometimes the reason can be psychological and attending counseling and therapy may assist.

Some medications you may have been placed on could have the unwanted side effect of causing penile dysfunction.

I agree with svengali a visit to the urologist would be a good starting point

I wish you all the best and hope that there is some way that you may find solution to your problem

Hi - I suggest that you seek professional advice. You can do this by visiting the Western Australian Sexual Health Centre and meet with Dr. David Millar. You will find that he very knowledgeable regarding your condition. You can visit their website at Link is broken so has been taken down . I am one of his patients and have been very pleased with what he has done for me.

The WA Sexual Health Centre is in the Specialist Health Centre in Nedlands. You don't need a referral to make an appointment.

If you are meant to be able to get an erection post surgery and you are not getting one, I would try going to a different doctor and asking for help. In the mean time, you could try oral with a condom; it protects against the urine, yet is still oral.

As an older man I know the feeling. A penis pump helps to get things started. Oral generally works even without a full erection or a handjob is an alternative. A good orgasm is still available especially with a sympathetic lady who knows her stuff.

Mrs Rudyboy and I were having a coffee with Willow who is one of our Tantric specialists at Perfect Touch the other day and she was telling us about how she is working on a special Tantric massage which might help.

I am not sure if it will or not, but can I suggest you find out when Willow is available at Perfect Touch and come in and chat with her, no obligation. Tell her I suggested it. If it works out for you and something happens we would love to hear about it.

Good luck and I feel for you.
