Any fans of my favorite show??!

The series, set in London, revolves around the life of Hannah Baxter (Billie Piper), a seemingly normal woman, who lives a secret life as a call girl, under the pseudonym Belle. The series focuses on her professional and private life and its complications as they collide.

The series was attacked by some feminists, as Belle sells her body and some stated that it objectified women. The series was also accused of glamorising and being a misrepresentation of prostitution. PRogramme was accused of objectifying women and falsely portraying prostitution, saying "It is impossible to imagine that any one of these women entered 'the game' out of free choice. Yet according to Belle, the heroine of the series ... she loves sex and money and so prostitution was a natural career choice."

Piper hit back at the claims saying, "We've only been exposed to the drug-fueled, sex traffic side – but the fact is, there are middle-class, cultured, well-read women who take part in this job." "Series two is good because it brings the less glamorous side out into the open", as the second series dealt with serious issues such as the prospect of rape within prostitution.

For years, only six people knew the true identity of Belle, an anonymous call girl who wrote about her adventures in sex work at the blog Diary of a London Call Girl. While her blog became an international hit, she published several books, and Showtime picked up a TV series based on the book called “Secret Diary of a Call Girl,” only half a dozen people in the world knew the real Belle!

Belle du Jour is Dr. Brooke Magnanti, a 34-year-old specialist in neurotoxicology and cancer epidemiology. She’s blond, British, attended high school in Florida because of her parents’ work, and has two tattoos. She lives with her boyfriend, who knows her true identity and presently she is employed as a medical researcher studying the effects of pesticide on infants.

“When my publisher first met me, I asked her if she was disappointed—I thought maybe for £300 an hour she’d expect some 6ft, gorgeous Amazon. But she said, ‘I’m just glad you’re not Toby Young’.”

Simone, I am a fan. The show is great. It also shows that intelligent women can make a career choice to be a WL. As a balance it shows the positive and negative sides of the career choice. She also had her exit plan and moved on to a new career. I think she decided to tell her story before someone else exposed her. As my girlfriend is a WL, I can also relate to the male friend that she has that she confides in. He provides her with some emotional support when needed.

I think she didnt want to expose herself for first. I personally think its due to the big success of the programme.
It is so much fun watching it! It shows exactly what the business is like - negatives and positives. And how she manages or struggles with the double lifestyle. I personally worked as WL in London for high profile agency before I flew to australia. And yes there are couple little things in the movie that does not happen in reality as meeting up with Madam for lunch. As it is illegal in most of Europe, agency owners are usually very concerned about exposing their own identities.

Anyways, the movie is great !!

No no no ;D So there is a girl in London who was an escort and while doing so she wrote a blog about her experiences. Later on she wrote an autobiography and book about the sex industry. And then TV programme was created based on her books and blogs. Even so it simply is interesting especially for anyone ever connected with the industry. Based on true story. Dont really get your negativity Farm Boy :mad::mad:

Another show you might like is "Masters of Sex". It is an American period drama television series that premiered in 2013 on Showtime. It is based on a couple that "Taught America how to Love". If you search on the internet for "Masters of Sex" you will find information on the series, including video clips of the show.

It's interesting to see there can be a variety of different perspectives to the job, I've held the feeling the only ladies that can really stick it, don't like males for one reason or another , perhaps they're carpet munchers (batting for the other team) or sadly had abuse issues early on, but a grand financial plan sits well. It's hard to see these women (of whom I'm very fond of) actually enjoy the sex marathon that is the job description.

Was she a blonde? Maybe she was just taking the 'cold hard cash' thing a bit too literally.

Thank you for posting the videos. That was really cool to get a look at the real Belle, I think that will make me appreciated the book more now.
