Robbers & Thieves ....

On 1st July my daughter's car was stolen from her garage at home in Nedlands ....
On Saturday night (6weeks later). just past after spending a nice day with family , she got home & found her home trashed -
Police said it was probably the same people who robbed her of her car the first time but did not rob the home as my daughter & boyfriend were asleep ...

Police came by & got finger prints & said they would be back because they had not stolen everything...
The robbers also realized that she & boyfriend were taking a 5 day trip to Singapore as they open & checked her
Backpack ready for travels !!
(Today we got quotes to make security on all windows & doors as well,... They are coming through the windows ..
But it takes 4 weeks to get ready !!! .. )

So I am staying at her home incase the bastards come to rob her again !!!

So if you hear of me being beaten up because I intend to use pepper spray on those lowlifes ,,,, too bad - I have a craving knife by the bed as well !!!!!!!!!!

Hopefully you don't have to use any pepper spray or craving knife - your personal safety come first. Sometimes it is not worth the risk. Good luck.

You can hire guard dogs for your homes now .. They get dropped off and pick up the next day or how ever long you are away for ... Much safer and not to expensive ..... Food for thought ...

Another suggestion would be the temporary hire of a patrol guard. They can do a check on the property and call in any suspect activity and signs of a break in. It is usually a fair cheaper than a guard dog. But thats just another option.
I think the guard dog a better idea though.

I've been having same problems, as whilst russ and I were asleep we had someone smash my car up, then a few nights later came home finding the front door fly screen damaged whoever it was had attempted break in but they tried to pick lock a deadlocked door which has two separate keys and they realised that we have security cameras and ran but not before we caught their faces. They're a good investment do, ours cost 800, but worth every cent as it has a portable monitor and built in motion detection that goes of when some one moves in view of any cameras, look into it. J - car are the best.

And on knife note, i have a machete by our bedroom door which also deadbolts from inside, you can borrow that. ;)

I love living in apparently bad eastern suburbs.
so quite and I can leave me house and car unlocked some times for weeks at a time with no issues

Having your home violated is like a personal assault and your anger is understandable but don't get carried away with weapons etc.

Unless you have had serious combat training actually defending yourself effectively with or against a knife, club etc is not as easy as it looks in the movies. I trained in martial arts for several years but would much rather avoid a fight unless there was really no alternative. Every fight is literally a case of kill or be killed. Sure, you can go to a self-defence class and learn a few clever "moves" which might play out well on a training mat against an instructor but how will you go in the dark in a cluttered room against a possibly drugged up opponent who is really intent on doing you some serious harm?

Far better to look at the outside of your home, fit deadlocks, solid core doors and window locks all round plus a few movement sensing lights and get a decent monitored alarm with a "panic"button installed near the bed.

You know that I of course would not be able to defend myself to safe my life... but sometimes anger gets the better of you & you feel you can do anything....
Yes I think I shall have to sign up for self defence classes.... its a good idea!

I hope they get them DD!! So awful you have to have your house set up like a fortress these days-all the locks, alarms, monitors etc-like we are all prisoners in our own homes!!
