The launch of a major new video game always sees a suspicious increase in sick notes and days off work, but FALLOUT 4 was so popular it even stopped people watching porn.
According to PornHub, via Forbes, a look at Google Analytics reveals a noticeable drop in traffic when Fallout 4 was first released. The first drop was at 6am to midday and there was another major drop from 6pm to 10pm, when many people would’ve got in from work to play it.
Not that there’s necessarily any special relationship between porn and video games – it’s likely that just about any activity enjoyed by gamers showed a dip during that time – but it does show how much people can end up prioritising gaming above almost everything else.
However, it’s not the only connection Fallout 4 has with PornHub, as when footage of the game leaked out earlier in the year it was quickly taken down from YouTube and other video-sharing sites. But Bethesda never managed to remove it from PornHub – or were simply too embarrassed to asked.
According to Forbes as much as 30 per cent of all data transferred per day on the Internet is related to porn. While MindGeek, which owns eight of the 10 biggest porn sites in the West, uses more bandwidth than Amazon, Twitter, or Facebook.
So, if you’re worried about spending all your spare time on Fallout 4, just remember that there’s always worse things you could be doing…Or better things, depending on your views
