A Gold Coast private investigator linked to former police detective Mick Featherstone has been served with a notice to appear in court over an alleged scam involving a fake escort service.
The Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) has issued a notice to appear in court to Travis Burch, 35, and Matthew Elliot, 33, each on one count of fraud.
The CCC will allege Burch and Elliot charged more than 130 people between $219 and $495 to register as non-sexual escorts at their company Plus One Advertising, which traded as Plus One Companions, but none of the people received any work.
The CCC is urging anyone who believes they have been defrauded by this alleged scam between December 2014 and May 2015 to contact Crime Stoppers.
Burch is Featherstone's right-hand man at his Gold Coast private investigation company Phoenix Global, which is the focus of a major CCC investigation into fraud and money laundering.
The CCC is investigating a range of alleged cold-call investment operations connected to Featherstone and his company.
Burch was last month charged with fraud and money laundering along with Featherstone's wife Zoei Keong over an alleged cold-call investment company called Tropical Point.
Keong and Burch are alleged to have scammed investors of more than $700,000.
