Photography - adverts etc. -- Discussion

Not sure which forum; but this seemed as good as any...

So the quality of pictures in Adverts are generally either
a) Shite - done in bad light with a mobile phone
b) Great - but usually fake and stolen

This raises a question...

Why don't WLs get some decent photos taken by a decent photographer with a decent DSLR, glass (lens), and lighting?

Then said 'tog do a but of Photoshop to tidy the image (not to change the loom of the WL, but maybe slight blur the face if need, crop, contrast, white balance and other really basic adjustment to make the image zing without changing the WL significantly).

I'm sure it would improve their adverts and once people find the images as being 'real' then get more business.

It does not even have to be a pro-tog but any reasonable amateur can do this (and I'm thing the camera club scene)

I know some the do work for Model Mayhem etc. at no charge etc. i.e. for 'exposure'.

[Full disclosure... I'm a reasonably talented amateur (i.e. I've won awards and competitions etc.; not just a few likes on FB)]

Ladies using professionals is becoming more common but mostly the higher end ladies and there is 2 female's owned companies here in Adelaide that work with WL they can be found on SB
Boudoir photography is becoming popular.
I think the main issue would be disclosing area of employment and ownership of the images
Then some ladies don't invest a great deal into promoting them self's so the cost would be a factor to some. Basic package $250 and above plus hair and make up another $140 etc

Ownership is very simple... (According to the © Act 1968 as amended)
http://www.austlii.edu.au/au/legis/cth/consol_act/ca1968133/

In the first case the photographer own the © unless they are an employee and employed as a photographer.

If you pay a photographer for their services then they still own the ©.
You can contract (assignment of ©) for ownership.

One exception is weddings and family type events where the subjects own © [which is my pro 'togs usually have a contract which gives © back to them]
