Movie review. Lone Survivor

Some of you may have read the book this is based on (4 man seal team involved in contact in afghanistan) and its truly an exceptional movie.

Anyone who has been to the states will know they are very proud of their servicemen and women and whilst wonderfully patriotic, Lone Survivor raises some serious questions throughout the movie and has such an inspiring ending

Watching it now, it's an amazing and horrifying story. At times hard to watch without a sick feeling in my gut. But it's beautifully shot... And I think it will be on my favourites list for a while.

What did you think of the ending?

They made the right call early in their mission but the last 20mins or so quickly reinforces the fact that we must remember that the Afghani people have suffered
greatly.

Pictorially, it's fantastic, story-wise it's not as comparable to Bravo 2 Zero I feel. There's a trend these days to remake movies from as recent as two or 3 decades ago e.g. Robocop, Batman etc and I don't mind that as many aspects film technology weren't available back then.

It'd be interesting to see how Bravo 2 Zero or the Longest Day would be treated. The Longest Day however, will always remain a classic and I think a new version could never beat it.

Very well done film apart from some over the top cliff falling, I thought was quite well done. Peter Berg can direct and act.

I guess, in an ideal world, this is where technology could have helped. A drone would have ascertained the rebel leader's presence. An artillery bomb or missile would have killed him and less lives would have been lost unlike the result which happened.

Reality is Harry that the 4 blokes did have to jump down 20-30ft cliffs to survive. Most of the movie is accurate but Marcus was much more alive in real life when rescued and there were only around 30-50 talibs rather than hundreds in the movie.

Suz, they did have excellent drone capabilities back in 2007 but even then I guess they'd have to have some limiting factors
