Couple of nights ago I was on a date. Dinner was nice, an after dinner walk was nice. Then my date and I came across a young homeless boy.

My date stopped and reached into her hand bag for a huge handful of coins....took the boys hand and put the coins into it. I was warmed to see that. I sat down and asked the boy why he was there. He explained and told us his story. We just gave him some space to share and have someone give a shit and listen. He shared that he is really trying to get a job but is knocked back time and time again because of hygiene. Homeless people are only semi clean even when they get an occasional shower.

I pointed out that the Perth train station has showers. And asked if he had $10 to have a shower. He said no. As I reached for my wallet, my beautifully kind date whipped out a $50 note. The boy shed tears at the kindness......and so did I.

I have never before had someone share this kind of giving kindness with me.

What a beautiful person...................

Love to know the story behind the homeless kid.. although a lot of them are homeless due to abuse etc; there's quite a few that are homeless cause they decided that they are 'renegade' and not going to follow the rules of their parents...

Hearing some of the problems friends have with their problem kids.. it's hard to not feel sorry for the parent.

Such a sweet story and what a wonderful woman.
So sad to think that in this day and age there are still people who are being left in these circumstances.
It is so important to give back and help out someone who needs it. Kindness makes the world a much better place. You never know when you will need someone to show you the same!
I think you better strange a second date yoda! X

Hi Olivia

The world isbrhe way it is. I don't put further meaning to it to upset myself. I just give my best to do good when the opportunity arises.

And yes this girl is lives her life with kindness as her guide and is a blessing to ne around.

And I get what you say..... but my personal dilemma is that so far no women can put up with the work I do or my history. But hey..... that's the way the cookie crumbles :)

Whaaat?? Who can resist the charm of the Jedi master? Who? huh? You didn't work your jedi mind tricks enough maybe. :banghead:

You are too kind brother. But while I work in this industry and promote the way I do no woman so far can be at peace with that. And I don't lie to them.

I am sure other industry workers can relate.

It's true that not many can handle the truth. It's good to be honest about it at 1st instance. Oh well, sorry to hear that. But who knows the one may come in a surprise package.

There are many to many homeless in this day, but sometimes you hear of heart warming stories like this then there is the other side. There should be no one homeless in our country,The government has alot to do with it and some just choose to blow there money. Very hard one to work out. Just my beliefs.

There are great youth services in Perth with access to food, free showers and youth workers who can link young people into the right services. Amazing people work there.

You will never understand true homeless until you have been to some of the third world countries then you will understand what true homeless and poverty is....:(:(
I have had that opportunity and it was truly one of the most humbling experiences of my life....
To watch kids have nothing and no government to rely on.... No parents in the back ground......
No clothes.... shelter and just begging ......
Yoda if you were so moved maybe you could become active in the community and start helping because just giving money doesn't fix the problem ... It is about education and teaching people to become self sufficient.....
That is why Maryanne started children under the bridge and something that i am very passionate about ....
We can make a difference in lifes but giving money and no follow up doesn't help!!!!!!

I was in Thailand a few years ago and was walking back from dinner with a thai lady friend not a bargirl, anyway we too passed what looked like a homeless man. She then turned and walked back to him and gave him 100Baht. ($3 AU) For those that don`t know, that can be a days wage to someone there or even 10 serves of noodles.
The world can be full of beautiful people.

Not to burst any bubbles here either, , but this "Children Under The Bridge" that you are so passionate about, could you give the forum readers some imput on where the money that we staff collect on a daily basis, goes. We must have thousands and thousands in there by now. I no that the money that is collect isn't just for C U T B. There are a lot of other worthy courses that MAK gives to as well.

Majority of clientele.... from regulars to newbies, they all want to know where money goes, what has been achieved . C U T B. should be living in Palaces from what's been collected . Us staff when asked, do explain the other fascets of charity in which MAK donates too. Some not all punters are starting to make a few unwarranted remarks. So maybe Sue you could to a summary of account so to speak on what has been achieved . May be this true account will settle the natives..

It is good to hear that there are still people in this world who care
I am very much the same
for some strange reason i would quite happily give away my last dollar even if it meant me going without
