I've been using a friends' computer and did'nt realise, until by accident
(ctrl H), that everything I do is recorded. Bugger! Can anyone help?
Please.
I know how to erase the history of site visited but this is different; it includes Yahoo groups I've visited and even e-mails etc.

click on tools, scroll down to internet options.. and then click on delete temporary folders, cookies and delete files.. this will get rid of the pages that have been visited in the last 20 days..

you can also right click on the items in the history list and select delete. That way you can delete a single page or a whole day.

o.k. here's what I did (thank guys); I clicked on "Tools", clicked on "Internet Options", Clicked on "Temporary Files" AND "Cookies" and still, when I press (ctrl H), the computer shows me what I've been doing today. You know "anal" this and "fetishes" that. Any other ideas?
I could delete each one one-by-one but I know there's a way to do it all in one fell swoop.

Unfortunately for you there is also a file called index.dat (sometimes can be several copies depending on your O/S and PC set-up), and buggered if I remember where, that keeps the entire history, regardless what you delete within IE.
It also isn't an easy file to delete, as it is open at all times. So if you are in windows you can't delete it If you run Win9x you can boot froma MS-DOS start up disk, but if you have Win2k or XP it won't recognise the file structure. I normally take the hard drive with windows on it out, and put it in another PC as second drive - but I do believe there are some tools available on the internet that will delete the file for you.

I moved in with my sister a few months ago temporarily and I used to go on their PC when they'd go out and peruse my fave porn sites.... Id delete the history etc and get off quick smart when they pulled in the driveway...

One day I was actually doing my banking online (believe it or not!) and I flicked through the favourites and there were heaps of porn sites saved... then I did some more digging and found porn vids and pics galore!

Since then we are both comfy to discuss our porn viewage.... Ill go over for dinner and by brother in law will be downloading a vid and ask if i want to watch too.... it was such a relief!!

I use Tracks Eraser - http://www.acesoft.net/ - it finds those pesky index.dat files for you - not that I have anything to hide on my puter of course <grins>

Despite several warnings Couple continued on in an abusive and offensive manner.

I do NOT do this lightly... and it is in fact the first time that I have taken such action..

But enough is enough... so....

Please be advised that I have 'banned' COUPLE access for a period of 10 days... after that they may return, with full access, however if they then continue to engage in abusive behavior I will again ban them for a longer period of time and continue to do so until either they conform to expected standards of behavior or be banned for life... the choice will be in their hands... Google "Photo Resizer," or "Picture Resizer," and you will find a free one to download. Otherwise email them to me, if you like, and I will resize them for you. My email details are on my website. Hint: if you have a gmail account you can send large files easily.

If you use Windows Office there is a tool in the Office tools folder Microsoft Office Picture Tool Manager and if you select Edit-> Resize - Web Small it'll do it for you all you have to do is give the file another name (ex: JD_sm.jpg) and if you do not save the image you can retain your original and have the smaller version otherwise it will reduce your original image to the size you selected.

Thank you Aaron and others... once again I can enjoy using this Forum, now that you have 'Fixed' that annoying malfunctionment that crept in back around February 2010.

So now, it is functioning again, like a true 'forum' where a fellow forum follower may make a post, on an existing thread, without the entire thread disappearing until somoene else posted on that same thread, which could have been anything from a minute to an hour, perhaps even longer... Now, thankfully, it is back to working, as it once did, and that is that when I post a thread I can immediately see the thread with my post and it jumps up the forum to the top of the page.... Hooray, well done Aaron, albeit after 8 months of my 'nagging' you about it!

LOL......hi Adam.....good to know that somebody else finds the big red cross irritating as well. I had the same confusion when I joined the forum 2 months ago. All I can say keep posting........
I can't remember how many posts you have to send (4 or 5?????) the forum will then allow you to send private messages etc. and the red cross will disappear as well.
So no worries and you are on the right track......even when you sometimes feel like :BangHead:

Name changes

We ask you to pick a name you like and keep it. If, however, you have a burning desire to change your username (maybe fix a spelling mistake?) then the best way to do that is to make a post in this thread (you could also send me a PM if you wished).

I will then be able to go into the Admin section and update your name. Note that once your name is changed, your old login won't work! If you have requested a name change and then can't log in, use the name you requested to log in.

Delete Account

You want to leave and have your account deleted? Well, that's a shame, we're sorry to see you go.

The best way to arrange for an account deletion is to send me a PM and I'll delete your account. Note that when an account is deleted, the posts do not dissappear! They are set to "Guest". If you want the content you have uploaded to the site removed (posts and photos), you'll need to go through and delete them yourself prior to requesting deletion. Note that once done, this action cannot be undone.

Reporting Posts

If you see something that you think is not appropriate, please report it (all posts have a "Report" button on them - it is the red and white triangle on the right). One of our team of moderators will check it out and take appropriate action.

First order of business is I will be cleaning up permissions and settings in the back end. There are several years' worth of moderators, administrators and work arounds which means that there are lots of accounts which have permissions that they should not have. I'll closing them off for security and to keep track of who can do what.

If you have been asked to be a moderator or have specific powers and they suddenly stop working but you feel that you are supposed to have them then please let me know (either here or via PM) so that I can restore you.

This also applies to our moderators! We don't want to stop anyone who is doing moderation duties from doing so. I have a rough idea of who our active moderators are, but if I accidentally lock out someone, please let me know!

Most of what I have been doing today is cleaning things up in the background, un-sticking old stickies and going through the stuff that was awaiting moderation.

The forum is a fair bit tidier now than it was yesterday, though it's all little things. Most members won't notice anything different.

I need to wait until my second day before I can do a Godzilla-rampage and turn everything upsidedown. Muah ha ha!
