A woman in the US has allegedly admitted to ‘stalking herself’ on Facebook in an attempt to get revenge on a former lover. Michigan woman Cheryl Nelson, 52, reportedly admits she used her ex-boyfriend’s personal information to set up fake accounts in his name, before sending threatening messages to herself in order to frame his former partner’s new girlfriend. Ms Nelson made eight complaints to police in 2011 and 2012, claiming she was the victim of harassment, stalking, assault and a home invasion. Police investigating the claims eventually found the computer Ms Nelson had been using to send the threatening messages to herself. Kent County Sheriff's Detective Jason Russo says that’s when Ms Nelson’s story fell apart. "Nelson made (an) admission that she had been falsely reporting crimes because she was not able to let go of her relationship with Kevin," Russo wrote. "Evidence shows that Nelson used her computer to set up false Facebook accounts using Kevin Haarsma's personal information ... Nelson used this account to make it appear that she was being stalked and harassed by Kevin's new girlfriend by posting threatening messages."
Nelson has previously faced charges of using fraudulent cheques in Florida.
