Ok, im really pissed about all the funding cuts to legal aid the last few yrs. I didnt know about it till about 5 weeks ago, hence the reason i'm really pissed. Unless you are a drug dealer or serious offender you CANNOT get legal representation at all even if you are going to trial. Unless your case is being heard in district or Supreme court your screwed. I have 5 days till my son goes to court charged with unlawful wounding even though it was done defending me from further assault from another. If i cant find thousands of dollars like now, my son will have to represent himself in a trial that if found guilty will face 4 yrs jail and i just dont have it. He is definately not good with words and he is facing barristers on the prosecutions side. How is this a fair trial? To have a lawyer just look at the police disposition and tell me if its winnable and how to defend it is going to cost at the very minimum $300. this is insane and i think im gonna puff up like a blow fish over the stress! And now the government want to cut another 2 million more from legal aid! Holy shitballs!
