Sex, lies and Sharia Law: The secret life of the Sultan of Brunei

Link is broken so has been taken down

Well here we go, a country imposing sharia law unto its citizens but the law does not apply to the royals. While people committing adultery get the stone treatment, the royals can own a harem and throw extravagant sex parties on their luxury yacht. That is really godly of them. :vomit:

Lord Spikey

It's the Golden Rule, homer.

He who has the gold, makes the rules and he does have an awful lot of gold.

Ahoy;- King Hypocrite, I good agree with you Homer

Brunei has a population just over 415,000 and was ranked the fifth richest nation in the world by Forbes thanks to its large oil and gas reserves.
Its citizens enjoy free health and education, most are employed in the public sector and none of them criticise the royal family – because it’s not allowed.

True that he who owns gold rules but he/she is no god and should not be exclusive.

HP...yeah...as his loyal subjects, they question not, the hands that feed them. But if they or their offspring commit thievery, sayonara to hands. Both hands will be amputated upto the elbow. There you go, justice for the common people. But if your born a royal, hail presto your are safe. This law does not grant 2nd chances.

In fact, the same double standards exists in all these kingdoms and dictatorships so, in a way, publicly recognising it is actually less hypocritical than the places which pretend the same rules apply for all!

Seems that, apart from the harsh laws life for the average Brunei citizen is not too bad so if the Sultan was overthrown, who would replace him??

Probably some religious nutter like the late and unlamented Khomeni of Iran or a bunch of socialists. Either way the country and the people would be screwed.

Sometimes things and people we don't approve of are best left alone.

Bear in mind there are expat who live and work in Brunei too. This new law applies to them as well.

True that the people live an ok life there in Brunei but not all are citizens of Brunei. Citizenship is actually a very hard thing to obtain. It is hard to overthrow a powerful dicktator that has a hold of your balls. Either way, it would hurt.

Just watched 2 shows on TV bout the sons of dicktators
..1 is spose to be actual events bout Saddam Hussain's son Uday's life .having a double( apparantly this double closely resembled Uday, they even cosmetically operated on this guy to resemble Uday.apparantly Uday could drive down the streets of sny city and pick up 14 yo schoolgirls take em home and rape them such a loose canon was he that he raped a newly married woman at her weddingceremony, while the new husbsnd sat outside the room listening to thr moans an groans, after the rape the woman threw herself of the balcony still on her wedding gown.in an assassination attempt Uday gets shot in the orchastra stalls.
in the TV show ,as fake as it is ,basically follows same plot son of dictator rspes a mans wife while he's outside the room knowing wats goibg on but cant do a thing bout it later on in show this loose canons son gets married and at the ceremony new wife's in ladies room still in wedding gown when the father in law comes inn starts groping her This guy also can pick n choose his women and in one moment of madness gets knifed in the orchestra stalls
I know this is all TV but wat was showing in Brunei really makes u think wat sort of people r they
