Was walking around Fremantle yesterday afternoon when I happened to see a group of people barely able to walk and with a cask being shared between them. Now I shouldn`t be judgmental but I was because looking at them and their clothes combined with the way they were acting I would say it would be pretty close to a daily event.

Should I take pity on them wasting their life away?

Should I be angry because chances are some of our tax money goes towards their drinks?

Should I feel sadness because alcoholism is a disease and they should get help?

Should we just ignore it?

How should you or I feel when seeing something like that?

You just can't control how people live their lives. You can't control how govt department dispatch welfare $$$. If you have control of these 2 then yes you can make a difference.

Other than that, you can't do much. Approaching them maybe of grave danger to yourself. You can feel sad or pity for them. But if they don't have self love or respect then you just can't help people who don't want to help themselves.

Very true, Contrarian, alcoholismn as well as drugs, as well as crime, as well as murder goes right through all layers of society. We intend to think in 'kilschees' but they don't necessarily match reality.

To answer your question BB..........I go for number 1.
I used to interfere many many moons ago when people I knew got hooked on drugs which obviously distroyed them. Result: 1) they bring you down as well if you don't watch out, 2) they use your good will, 3) they can only help themselves, 4) if they are really prepared to do something to get out of the vicious cycle than you can help and support them.

Correct me if I'm wrong Rochelle, but did you intend to write "klischees" and is that German for "cliches"? Just a guess, I'm sure I'm not the only one who doesn't know.
