How far does one go before go letting

From what I have seen here there are many kind souls that will help a fellow human being when they are in a need or crisis. Yet how far does one go before letting go knowing that the person in need is not ready or willing to be helped.

Now I am not naive enough think that anyone can actually change another person unless they are ready and willing to see a situation and is ready to make a change.My belief is that my job is to stay on the side line and stay in a peak state so when there is an invitation to offer something I can do so if it is a deed that serves that person and the greater good.Yet watching someone hang by a thread and shake dramatically which guarantees there fall is hard to watch and be unattached to.I know there is no answer.

But does anyone have examples of words of wisdom that can make uninteresting read. Conversation from like minded people are always a good thing that comes out of such times.

You can't help someone who isn't willing to help themselves.
You can offer as much advice and help as you like but if that person isn't willing to be proactive about fixing what's not working then it's about as productive as banging your head against a wall.

Help comes in many forms but the one I think that is the most effective is listening. Sometimes people just need someone to listen and it makes them feel like they matter xx

It was before I was married Mr H, and I just attracted friends not lovers. Then when I became a guitarist in a cover band it was like winning the lottery, girls would tell their mothers what I did for a job, she's say "he's a what??" and I'd immediately get relegated to bad boy status which gave me instant sex thanks to Mum.
I need to get the band back together lol!
