This post in inspired by Langtrees Perth driver Michael who I have nicknamed "Zen Master" because quite frankly he is.

In a world full of stress and chaos how do you find your peace and zen? What do you do to be cool and chilled? Michael seems to have mastered it. I have never seen him be anything other than zen each time he is at work. It is a compliment and i ask him all the time.

I like to be alone and write. I find i feel better when i have time alone to reflect. Im no where near being a zen master but maybe one day i will lol

I find it hard to chill out in the moment, I find I have to do other things to break myself out of the context, and remember the bigger picture.

I do indoor rock climbing, and I find that works wonders. Completely clears your mind, gives you a fresh perspective when you do walk out the door and back into your life, you're less weighed down by it. And yeah, as Elle said, music is great, saw Rise Against at Amp's tonight - yelling and screaming to great music, does wondersfor the soul :D

I guess it's about taking that time to yourself, to remember life is filled with a lot of things, not just the problems?

Spot on! Being alone and in ones own company is not easy to learn. I enjoy being alone as that is when i find my calm and explore my thoughts. I feel peace in my moments alone

There are many ways to get to that place called Zen. And each of us has a different path that we tread before we get there.
The paths are often rocky and steep and we lose our footings, sometimes falling off and fervently clasping the handrail of that defying goal, while looking into the depths of oblivion.

Some let go as oblivion appeals.

Be the best person you can in life Missy Daniella.

The path to enlightenment to that place called Zen, is having the belief that you can look into oblivion, let go of
the handrail that traps you and have faith.

Missy Daniella
Dreams dont follow paths. Trust your instincts, let go and follow your dreams.

Strange how people can find alone time so relaxing But then I have people come to the farm and after the second third day They are Far from relaxed
The exact opposite even

But we are all different I am way out here and not lonely
Yet Perth abounds with lonely people

Perhaps some people don't know how to actually be alone with their own company Happy. Being alone and lonely are not the same . Yes it is interesting how many lonely people there are in a crowd , disconnected, the silent screaming can be deafening and painful ..
However being alone can be an acquired skill and quite enlightening in finding a peaceful place with ones own company ..I found this book most inspirational "The art of Happiness" Dali Lama :)

Although I search for Zen time often, I have only found it a few times.

I practice self reflection all the time, but usually only succeed in reviewing my recent past mistakes or successes, and usually accompanied by joy at the successes and excuses for the mistakes - both of which are pretty shallow.

My moments of real inner peace and self reflection have been rare, and usually in the course of, or at the end of, some supreme effort I have made - sometimes successfully, sometimes unsuccessfully.

On one occasion. I was applying for a job, and spent two weeks researching the job, the company, the business climate, what to say if I got an interview, how to dress, etc.

I got the interview, but sitting in the office waiting for my interview, I found myself reviewing all that I had learned about this company and the job they wanted their successful applicant to do, then I found myself reflecting on who I was, and who I wanted to be, and what happiness meant to me.

I asked the receptionist to pass my apologies on to the panel, and walked out.

Never regretted the move.

For some people, real self reflection comes easily they say, but for others like me, it comes rarely, and only when you are in a certain place (head space ?), and you have to recognise it when it comes along, and you have to open yourself to it - or it will pass you by like the idle wind which we regard't not.

Just my two cents worth .

Yes indeedy, I was at the Foo Fighter gig as well. You'll be happy to know the Foo's did a cover of 'Let There be Rock' and absolutely fucking nailed it :)

I guess I like things, be it loud rock music, or really challenging physical exertion, that knock me out of usual train of thoughts :)

so many people find it hard to meditate and to do this, I was given an wonderful piece of advice by a buddhist monk after the loss of someone very dear to me. I told him I couldn't meditate or find my inner self to come to terms with the loss. He asked what I liked to do - at that stage running - he said when I ran to observe nature, to look at the way light fell through the leaves of trees, to admire its beauty to think on nothing but the nature I passed as I ran - thats meditation, and via that I found the silence and the courage to deal with the loss. This has been my zen ever since

The Zen.....Force.....Source....Universe.....God.....appears and works in an abundance of mysterious and simple ways.......

The only requirement in finding it is to seek it..... give it a chance to be seen and heard when it appears.......

Be not distracted when it shows itself......

Be present to a moment without distraction.....

Be content in my own company.....

Still something I am In the process of mastering :)

Wow what great responses from everyone, thank you!

Everything would just go way too smoothly and easy if we did not have those moments where being zen was the last thing on our minds.

I guess that only makes us human. I am quite patient-ish on some things and not as quite with others. I feel better after spending a day alone yet taking out time for ourselves can sometimes be an effort. I am not a good meditator but i am quite comfortable and enjoy spending time with my thoughts.

It is definitely a constant effort. Life has a funny way of posing obstacles before you just as you past the last one . A little frustrating but being angry wont change anything. One day i will stopped getting frustrated too and not see obstacles as a pain but rather a chance to achieve something more...

Zen Master, teach me your ways!!! lol
