Today I woke up & was texting my daughter - we were texting about fun stuff.... then she walks out of the door & finds her car gone.... Some bastards broke into her home, found her handbag, took the car keys & also took her fiancee's work boots.... In the car she had her TENOR HORN ( she is a musician) with the PERTH BRASS BAND ....
She is especially devastated about her Tenor Horn as they are over $2000 .....
What is wrong in the world today.... Her car is only a MADZA 2 ..... what the hell?

Have you ever been robbed ? One must feel so violated......

Oh gosh I hope she gets everything back and recovered.
It was a long time ago but some worthless wastes of space broke into mum and my tiny 2 bedroom house, stole what little christmas presents my mum could get for me and everything else of worth. WHO DOES THAT THE DAY BEFORE CHRISTMAS!!!

But also why steal. Why devistate some-one's life with that?

We got broken into while I was pregnant with my daughter. They managed to take a few things which I loved but were replacible. The most stand out emotion for me wasn't what had been taken but the fact that someone at anytime could come into my home without an invitation. It's been 3 yrs and I still trouble and triple check locks, windows door etc. and even though I have my beautiful faithful and Loyal rotti x I still get very anxious. I HATE my surrounding neighborhoods.

I'm really sorry that happened to your daughter DD, I hope she recovers ok.

Yep!! Burglary has an emotional impact which usually outweighs the dollar value of any items stolen. It is just that sense of having your personal space violated.

In any community we all trust that everyone will respect us and our possessions and when someone betrays that trust it erodes the whole fabric of our society.

Police tend to regard burglary as a minor crime and a "gateway" to more serious offences but, really, it is anything but minor and the perpetrators should be dealt with a lot more forcefully than they are at present. Sharia law may seem a bit harsh but they don't have as much ttrouble as we do with repeat offenders.

In Vic Park one time two guys wanted money from me at knife point. I intended to give them one of my two $50 notes without protesting. The knife got a little too close and frightened me...........

Knife ended up on a roof an I ended up offering both my $50 notes so the knife guy can get a taxi to get to RPH....

I was robbed once in a bus stop waiting for the bus after work..forced me to give me mobile phone by a group of 21-25 year olds.. Also got broken into while we were watching tv on the living room.. The guy was so high and was after drugs. Luckily no harm done except a broken window or two.

Thankfully nothing as serious as some of you poor people, possibly because I've lived in flats/apartments all my life, but my car was broken into a few times while parked in the basement of my old place. The annoying thing was that while they never got anything other than a cheap pair of sunnies and torch once (I never leave anything of value in cars), it cost me over $100 a pop to get the car door lock repaired and once a few hundred for a window. So indirectly they squeezed more than five hundred bucks out of me.

Lost of possessions and costs of repair cannot compare to the psychological effect it has on you. The fact that some f**king strangers gone through all your personal belongings and they can just walk into your living space and take whatever they want, that gets to me.

Yes That is horrible - those people has total disregard for other peoples property, and to steal Christmas presents a day before is just horrible and mean.....

I know exactly what you are saying about SHARIA LAW.... when I first arrived in Perth some horrible kid sprayed my car, and I mentioned to colleagues at work the police should just make an example of one kid by CUTTING OFF their trigger happy finger that they used to spray the car! - SHOCK HORROR was the response...
I still said once one kid had it done, the other kids would not do it for fear of losing a finger....
In SHARIA LAW a thief gets one hand cut off..... just saying!!!

EXACTLY .... that violation of having some one checking out all your stuff.... you would want to lock up everything...

I actually had a friend who kept a really cheap go-everywhere bomb - just road worthy enough so the cops would not give him a yellow sticker - & he often left it unlocked... it had nothing inside... his hope that someone would steal it never transpired but it gave him a good 10 years of faithful service.....
XLNC you are so right about never keeping anything of value in the car.... but better still keep the car empty so there is not even a little temptation!!!

Happy, In the end as long as no one is hurt, that is the main thing.... you see on TV how some drugged out teenagers hurt old pensioners, it is cruel and so sad for the victim....
Glad nothing happened to your Mom!

After they nicked the sunnies and torch from my glove box, I left the glove box open so the buggers could see there wasn't anything worth stealing. When I eventually bought a new car, I made sure it had an alarm installed!

I had my handbag stolen from work once (not at my current workplace) and it was awful. Just knowing they had my house and car keys and all my personal details! And living on my own at the time was particularly scary for a few nights. I wish they had just taken the money and left my bag. Was such a pain to replace. And I was quite fond of that little bag. Cute red thing. Oh well.
